They wouldn't announce Chems using a 1995 hint, I guess. The hint is always related to the year the band started, why would it refer to the year of a name change this time?

There's also the 1975 example of using 2002 rather than whatever later year they changed their name.

Great shout. Current line-up is crying out for a top-class electronic/dance act and they seem like a logical option. The line-up really doesn't need Biffy Clyro.

Are most people expecting Tool and the Pumpkins to be on the line-up?

Pumpkins 99%

Tool are spanish exclusive at Download Madrid sadly

OK - thanks.

That Shaky Knees line-up is the best I've seen for 2019 so far - Deerhunter, Interpol, Oh Sees, Dashboard Confessional, Foals, Beck and Interpol would all go some way in rescuing what's a pretty unappealing list of Mad Cool announcements so far.

More of an idea of who's doing festivals next summer:

No automatic alt text available.

Foals and Grouplove would be great for MC. IMO Foals should be headlining that gig. Q's live act of the year 2015 I think.

Also Foals headlined Citadel year before Tame Impala but guess latter do better in US.

Yeah they’re not as big in America but they are clearly growing as they’ve managed second line there, as opposed to fourth line in 2016.

I see Major Lazer formed in 2009 but I presumed Diplo would be on with other stuff next year.

And yeh I think tomorrow will be Biffy. That forum likes any band as long as they're a rock band.

You wouldn't use the same logic you used in thinking it wasn't Bon Iver when they did one resulting in 2006 but without the numbers from any of his songs?

Oh yeah I actually agreed with those points when I was reading them and somehow had forgotten them by the time I replied lol.

Major Lazer is a good shout, doesn't really matter if he's doing other stuff tbh.

    • Ive always had a lot of time for the mighty Shots, a pal of mine used to commentate on their games for Sussex Counties radio and he'd sneak me into the ground for midweek games, and we'd even nick a tea and a plate of sandwiches. This is back in the George Borg days, so um . . a little while ago now
    • Hmm, weird- Rush are playing the Co-Op live on the 12th and the 14th, and Megadeth are the meat in that sandwich - so they have to roll everything in, roll it out again, only to roll it back in and then out - here's hoping for a prog hokey-cokey with all manner of bizarre time signatures and drum solos!
    • Depends what you mean by seeing 'more stuff' about it.    I definitely don't trust the original Sun article.

    • Chill. There is no chance Sziget will be cancelled by the government. Even the prime minister held a press conference today, where he confirmed this.   Magyar said they do not want to shut down the country or prevent events from taking place. He gave the example that vetoing an event would be like completely cutting off a large consumer’s electricity supply for the organizers. However, just as they have not taken such a measure against large consumers, they have not taken steps to cancel events either. (Magyar did not name a specific event, but he was presumably referring specifically to the Sziget Festival.) At the same time, Péter Magyar stressed that if disruptions occur in the system or the heatwave persists, it could become necessary to postpone or reschedule events (example: some Hungarian football games will probably be held in daylight, moved to a few hours earlier, to save energy), although he believes there is currently little chance of that happening. This is particularly true for events that rely entirely, or largely, on their own energy sources.
