Resale Tips

Unfortunately i was one of the unsuccessful ones who never got a ticket, tried on Thursday no luck and on Sunday just got a white screen for an hour, but did get through on my phone and put in the resignation details and then it said 'Tickets Unavailable' guessing it had sold out maybe? Going to try again in the Resale but not getting my hopes up too much, how many tickets are in the Resale? does anyone know. Having got through on my phone i am wondering if anyone has any tips for the Resale? I know half of it is down to luck but there may be certain browsers or devices that are more useful than others.

Thanks

Matt

the resale consists of tickets that are not paid for in full in April, so it's hard to say how many there will be as it all depends on people deciding they don't want to go. and you'll hear all kinds of stuff about browsers, devices etc but it really does come down to chance in the end. i see a lot of people got through on 3g or 4g this year on their phones, whereas i got nada. just like the main sale, it's luck of the draw. i've been successful in the resale once so am quietly optimistic. it also helps if you build up a reputation on this forum so that members who already have tickets are willing to help you out

One browser per device, One tab per browser and plenty of pressing F5.

Go for Coach sales even if you don't fancy going on the coach as it'll give you two bites at getting tickets.

There won't be any CV tickets left by resale and it's unlikely any glamping will be left either so you'll be camping - therefore having a coach ticket instead of a standard one makes no difference.

There were some - presumably very few - CV tickets on resale day.

I haven't got a sniff of any sort of booking page in the October sale for the past three years, but managed to get them in the resale. Once on wireless broadband and once on a 3G dongle on my laptop. It seemed easier in the resales, but that's only because I was successful.

@MattieLFC, I found that the 1 browser per device didn't affect us. I had 2 different browsers on my wife's laptop and the same browser got the ticket window twice. But, don't have multiple tabs open in the same browser, that DID give me problems 3 or 4 years ago.

Also, they were rare, but some CV resales did come up before and after April, I think.

@Dave_c

@sassy2012

This brings me a lot of hope. 2016 would have been my 12th Glastonbury (not in a row) but I've been horribly unsuccessful in the October sales for the last 3 years and then haven't felt confident enough to go for the April one (one disappointment is enough). It's great to hear of folks who manage it. Definitely giving it a go in April.

I would suggest cover all options. I.e. have someone on a phone/laptop on 3G/4G and use a laptop with Wi-Fi and 1 Chrome, 1 Firefox, 1 Safari browser each with a normal tab and an incognito tab. Have these all visible on the screen, allowing all bar one to auto refresh. Stick with one to manually F5 - If this is taking a while to reload, try an alternative browser.

Steer clear from any apps/auto refresh add ons

Make sure you have loaded up the links well ahead of the sale, so you have a session already running and a cookie for the page.

This year is the first I have been successful in the first sale since 2008, every other time i've failed and got tickets in the resale.

The thing I did differently this year was have two browsers running, just one or two tabs in each. If the page started hanging, I would go back to the root (glastonbury.seetickets.com), rather then trying to refresh the page I was on. This seemed to really help me, as it would be able to load the root when it sometimes couldn't load the event page, if that makes sense.

I had 5 devices all with different browsers and none got a sniff on Sunday. Last year I got tickets on a 3G connection while my Virgin superfast 200Mb didn't get past the holding screen so it's definitely worth trying on a 3G/4G connection as well as your broadband.

I'll be pooling my numbers with a few friends to maximise my chances. Down-side is resale if only 4 tickets max - so will need to get round twice for all of us that missed out Sunday.

last year i got a CV ticket in a secret resale (after foolishly falling fowl of the change to the CV sale). Any way i got a notification from the ShangriLa fb page that simply said Hmmm and had a link. Couldn't believe it took me through to a sale, can't remember if it was just for CV tickets. Having been unsuccessful in the ticket sale this year I'll be liking every area of Glastonbury fb pages just in case ;-)

It's all about numbers of people. We had 20 people trying this year and got through twice although last year we failed miserably in October but did succeed in April so don't give up..Get as many people as you know trying. Set up a ticket buying group on WhatsApp so you can all communicate and pray for good luck. It's one way of knowing who your really friends are. Good luck for April xx

Just to echo what has already been covered; the key is numbers, if you're going in a group make sure everyone is up and organised, rope in friends to help out on T-Day. Go for the coach and the GA tickets - max your chances.

The last three years we've sorted ours in the resales, not the way anyone would choose to do it but there are potentially another three goes from this point on.

Set up a group with people from different parts of the country all trying, on Thursday our group got through for tickets in Plymouth and on Sunday my brother in Brighton got  through and managed to get 8 so it's all down to luck. Seetickets use Virgin media so maybe if you have virgin broadband it will reduce the exchange points and get you there quicker.

If you really want to go and don't mind working as a last resort then there is plenty to apply for in January and it's worth signing up, then if you are lucky at the resale you can cancel your working position and if you fail to get a ticket then you can still work for one and have a way of still going. I had been 8 times as a standard ticket holder and this year I didn't manage to get a ticket so I ended up volunteering with Oxfam and it was one of the best ones I had been too, I ended up on one of the main vehicle gates where the celebs and tour busses came through and standing in a car park eating starburst with some of the crew from ELO.

If all fails then there will be secret resales and Efestivals made a service called checkpage.co.uk that monitored changes on the seetickets website and if anything changed the service would email and send a text to your phone instantly to notify you. The secret sale sold out in 2-3 minutes but loads of people on here using the checkpage service managed to get tickets which was really nice to see.

Failing the resale in April there is the mysterious (and frankly soul crushing) secret sale in May-ish time. If you're unfortunate in April and willing to sacrifice a few weeks to waiting for the secret sale I recommend downloading the Google Chrome extension called 'Distill Web Moniter' it's free and served me very well. If anyone does need help in April give me a shout on Twitter or something - cb4747 :-)

If no one else has taken up your very kind offer of help I'm after a couple.  I'll check nearer the time...;-)

    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
    • Loads of people have to listen to music they don't like all day, while at work!   Not much different.
    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
