I'd say they're possibly not as big as those acts, but they're definitely a bigger deal (especially at Glastonbury) than the acts that have preceded the legend slot. Really they'd be most at home in the fourth down slot imo.

:P Pissing on my chips, one plate at a time :P

STICK!!!

The usual Friday clusterfuck of clashes will no doubt continue. Can't see Chic playing that low down though...

I think I'm the only one that doesn't have a cluster Friday but then a lot of the top of that Friday is associated with 6Music and it's not my thing.

Are the jacksons any good these days? Looks like that'll be my saturday night.

Saw them at Bestival and although I couldn't say they were amazing or anything they were much better than I expected and a lot of fun. They still give it their all at least even if they (understandably) aren't what they used to be, and the tunes carry them. Somebody on here seemed to have the opposite opinion to me on that though.

Depends on what you're expecting.  If the band are tight and the setlist contains the classics I'll be taps aff.

But theyre not gonna be like they were, if you follow me.

Although I agree, Biffy in to Foos seemed too similar - mini Foos in to actual Foos - so whilst The National before Foos isn't ideal, I like that they're shaking it up a bit. Interested to hear how Biffy go down. I'm sure they'll do a hell of a better job of it than previous weirdly placed subs, but then I was also deep in Beck's crowd last year and saw how utterly uninterested people waiting for the following headliner can be. An odd crowd for them for sure, and a big fear I have about The National's crowd also (The xx are the only ones who've got a pretty sweet deal).

I think it is a clever move putting Biffy under Ed as that makes them the fall guy.

Can you actually imagine Ed having to follow Bazza, Chic and then Katy Perry? It would be stone cold classic after classic with Bazza and Chic, followed by a load of upbeat bangers from Katy Perry. Ed Sheeran would fall flat on his arse after having to follow all that, because like him or not he honestly does not have the tunes or the show to compare with what preceded him.

It is a smart move putting Biffy there and not Katy Perry, as far as Ed goes.

Liam Gallagher announced to be subbing reading festival.

either glasto has him in a spot much lower or do you reckon he's subbing the other stage?

hmm

Apparently he's performing a re-creation of the famous Stone Roses headliner set.

I get what you're saying Easty, but I don't think the Festival have placed Biffy on a sacrificial lamb type basis.

My only expectations are all the hits and some over the top hollywood-style chat between songs!

Though I've just looked at a recent setlist and seen the dreaded medley rear its ugly head...

Have you been at any of the other recent similar headliners at WH?  It's usually a really good vibe, so even if the band aren't delivering on all cylinders it's still one of the best places to hang.

Yep! it's what always put me off prince playing a bit. He loved a medley. Makes me rage!

Does a mash up count as a medley? I have one on now. I think they call them a megamix.

That Friday looks like something of a nightmare to me!

Considering distances between stages and the pain of moving from pyramid to other I'll probably go Liam Gallagher (O), Blondie(P), Blossoms(P), Zara Larrson(JP), Pete Doherty (JP), Royal Blood(P), The XX(P), Lorde(O), Major Lazer(O)

Even that is much more hectic than i'd like. I'm not a fan of missing bits of sets. Even with that I'll be missing Emile Sande, Manic Street preachers, British sea power, flaming lips.

Really highlights how good value for money the festival is though

No sacrifice???? Surely there has to be one at the summer solstice.

I would have no hesitation sacrificing Biffy.

Positioning if Chic is an interesting variable.

Are they as big as the acts that have followed the Legend Slot in previous years - Ellie Goulding, Alt-J, Ed Sheeran?

I wouldn't have said so.

So it's last chance saloon time - Chic on before Right Bazza and K-Pez on afterwards keeps the dream alive.

Can you imagine! A Sunday run of Chic, Gibb, Perry, Justice would probably be the pinnacle of my festivalling career. I'm sweaty just thinking about it.

It's obviously not going to happen, But what if...What f***ing if!!

Would definitely need to take an extra Berocca that morning.

Hahaha that is woeful. Could possibly see him subbing the Other then if he's clearly demanding/being given such high slots, but fingers crossed not 'cause Oasis tunes aside that is poor.

    • You do get some weird swings here and there, so... Cypress Hill?
    • It was great, but I don't know why they continue to play Wide Lovely Eyes and Rings of Saturn, which are the weakest of the tracks off both PTSA and ST. Well, I do. It's cos they're about Suzie, so he can sing what he wants. They're the low points of the set. The rest is ace.
    • I didn't this time, but I've seen them before and just because you saw both that night doesn’t mean you can compare them. The Stones were great, but.you didn't think so and you went somewhere else looking for a good time and you found it. For whatever reason you didn't like it, but you were an outlier and all the reviews said they were great.
    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, i.e a verbal agreement for 2028, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
