one good reason im glad im not into any illegal substances, got nothing against them, each to their own live and let live blah blah blah......but fuck having this kind of worry and hassle every year getting into the site or the potential to actually be barred from getting in if they indeed found something.

Fair point. Proof of your name, like a Credit Card, should be enough to back up your Ticket. Once you are in your exits will be covered by the pass out ticket system. So it is really only the first time you enter there are checks towards you are the rightful owner of that ticket.

I have a beard and my ticket photo does not. I had no issues getting in last year and am not planning on taking any photo ID. Once I'm in the gate, I'm not leaving the site until Monday morning, so shouldn't be an issue. Oh, and at 46 I, sadly, never get age challenged either!

ASAIK there is no 'requirement' for normal festival goers (i.e. not crew) to have to show photo ID. I'll have another look at the info on the site, but I don't want to bring anything I don't have to - driving licence etc.

Thanks - I guess as an emergency I could leave the ID hidden in the car and if I do need it at least it's on site. Would suck having to go back and get it though once you've made it to the gates!

I was pretty sure they said you don't have to bring ID, so I checked.

However, if there's a challange over whether your face is really the face on the ticket, it's not impossible that you might be denied entry until it's sorted by further checks .... so while it's not necessary to have ID, it can be to your advantage to take it to avoid unnecessary hassle.

I have the same issue as Ben, but also the small matter of a 6 stone weight difference between my fat non bearded picture, and my slightly less wide bearded frame now.  Got queried once last time on a re-entry - picture ID sorted fine.

Picture ID back in lock ups and collected Sunday night.  Piece of cake.  Car Keys/Credit Card/ID/Ticket etc all in a bag safely out of the way!

It's not really much of a worry, most people are used to concealing drugs all year round, just a part of life.

I agree with Charm, it's not really a problem. If you're taking them in for yourself then it's a small enough quantity that you can conceal them very easily, if I was travelling by train id have a slight worry about going through stations, but getting the coach makes it a lot easier

Yes, you show your wristband and ticket, they give you a little pass-out ticket as you leave, then show all three and give back the pass-out ticket as you come back in. No further ID required

In my opinion the searches are pretty much for show and to catch anyone with in-concealable amounts & glass on them. They know that any small personal amounts are in bras and pants and thats a line they dont want to cross. They had dogs at Boomtown, but it was pot luck, they were so busy that it was only 1 in 10 getting picked off. 

There is the car searches near gate A, they seem like a lot of hassle for nothing.

Yeah I honestly think there is no risk, I've been caught once, I carried a mates bag in though gate D on thursday night 2010, He has some prerolled doobs in a tin and a larger bag if it lower down in the bag. His wallet was also in there so I promptly told them it wasnt my bag the found the prerolled ones and didnt bother with the rest of the bag. they just took them off me and let me carry on. 

Not sure what the deal is with class a's? seeing as possession is more that just a slap on the wrist in the real world. Would they detain you and call the filth over to deal with you accordingly, even if it was just a G of a class A? of course if you pulled out a load in weighed up in separate bags I'm sure they would as its a major offence.

That's why I'd be more worried if travelling my train, you're more likely to get dogs with police at them than at the festival 

 

Really the way I see it is, they aren't out to look for people trying to smuggle a few G of Mandy in or a hand full of pills. They're looking for people going in with intent to sell stuff, so if you've got a worse all usage, and you aren't daft, you have 0 to worry about
