Just quickly, why is it that the Foo fighters are such a strong rumour. Looking at there tour dates they are in the USA either side of Reading. Am I missing something?

You just answered your own question. They have left a possible gap for R&L.

Havant played in 6 years so they are due.

New album to show off.

Dave and foos have said they love playing R&L.

They didn't give out any extra dates after selling the UK stadiums in quick time meaning they are strong rumour for a late summer fest.

They’ve left another gap during May on their tour as well, possibly BBC The Biggest Weekend. Or are they rumoured for other festivals around that time.

Also this is the week before r&l in tokyo. I know people have played both fests before, but it makes some acts (IAMDDB, Mastodon, Marmozets, Pale Waves, Sherlocks, Tom Misch, Rex Orange County etc.) slightly less likely I guess

The English ones are just as likely as they were before and tbh I think it makes Mastodon and some other yanks more likely.

Guys, say foo fighters dont headline, do you think they will be back at some point? Quite desperate to see them and dont want this to be a last chance for me to see them :/

Tbh they're probably gonna announce some secret shows this month - I doubt theyd come all the way here just for the Brits. It would be typical them.

That line up has already been announced so I highly doubt it would be that

They played big weekend 2011 and 2015 doubt they'd do it again. The headliner only gets 1 hour set time too it would be shit if the only foo fighters festival was a 1 hour headline set. Reading much more likely

They've announced like 2 acts for each site, there's a lot more to come over the coming weeks. Don't think Foos are likely though.

My Prediction (feed back pls)

Friday:

Main- Parimore//Courteeners//Pale Waves//Lorde

NME-Wolf Alice

Saturday:

Main-Foo Fighters//Travis Scott//Bicep//Don Broco//

NME-Dua Lipa

Sunday:

Main-Arctic Monkeys//The 1975//The Vaccines//Lethal Bizzle

NME- Frank Carter and The Rattle Snakes

Parimore won't play, there's a possibility Paramore will though. No way Pale Waves will be that high, or above Lorde (although I doubt Lorde will be booked at all).

Bicep won't be that high or on the main stage. Dua Lipa would probably be on main stage, but I guess NME headline isn't out of the question.

Really doesn't look like AM are going to be playing, and The 1975 are at least coheadliners now but again doubt they'll be there this year. The Vaccines played that slot the last 2 times they've played the festival so I'd say NME headline is more likely for them now, though again I'm not sure they're gonna be there this year. In fact, I'd be surprised if any of your main stage acts on a Sunday are there this year. Also, Frank Carter is no where near big enough to headline NME yet.

Ed Sheeran can't headline Biggest Weekend as he's playing Manchester later in the evening so he'll probably be on near 2pm leaving a headliner option available. Not saying Foo Fighters will headline that, just that it isn't out of the question.

What about LCD Soundsystem headlining NME? No dates booked in August and haven't played R+L since reuniting. They used to be regulars and headlined NME in 2010.

Not really relevant to the R&L crowd nowadays, and they're headlining APE which pretty much rules them out anyway.

I'm really confused how you've quoted me saying something I didn't say haha, but yeah fair enough I get what you're saying.

A lot of people predicting hunna 3rd or 4th main stage- anyone think they would headline nme instead? They'd work against foo fighters as that's where all the teenagers would go I'd guess

Someone mentioned not too long back that they met them at the pre-show pop up shop and asked them about R&L and they said they were offered a main stage slot but needed to figure out if they could fit it in their tour plans.

Infact, I could've sworn that was you that mentioned that? Hmm obviously not.

Yeah it's a possibility, but I'm fairly sure someone had info from one of the band members that they've been offered a main stage slot. I think considering they headlined the FR stage last year a main stage slot would make more sense instead of 2 headlines in a row (albeit on different stages).

That was me lol but they also told me Brixton was the only Uk headline show theyd play in 2018 and then they went and announced two more tours and then they said the album would be in March and its May so everything else they said I'm just gonna forget about lol

Do we really think Dua Lipa will be there? I know she's big right now but is she the type who would suit the crowd that go?

Yeah she'd go down well for sure, she's huge just now. I'm not personally predicting her to be there, but it wouldn't surprise me if she is.

If she is there then pretty sure it would be either sub or 3rd down on the main. Can’t see her being nme headliner but I could be wrong
