Its pretty harsh to judge an act at the BBC's shit attempt to rival the Brits really, given most of the audience sounded like they was there for 1D.  (You have to say as shit as the Brits are as awards, they normally get the performances spot on from all their acts)

The bbc fiasco last night was down to sound quality, it was utter garbage, hence why the majority of acts sounded extre shite.

Faithless would be ace for an hour's warm up, but I do think they are kicking the arse out of it with no real new music on offer. Just reckon that they need the money........

Maxi's singing did not sound good at all at the music awards, which is a shame considering he plays such a big part in their music.

I'm sure they would put on a good show at glasto, but I think his voice would really start to grate after the 2nd or 3rd song.

I thought the same looking at all the videos over summer but when you're actually there you don't notice it. That or he just had a really good day at Manchester as I was expecting him to be shit but he sounded amazing

I've always found Maxi's singing sounds shocking when I've watch videos of them live but everyone I know who's seen them reports that isn't the case

I really hope they play, having them as a Friday Other headliner would be fantastic, that'd perfectly set everyone up for a teary comedown for Adele on Saturday

Probably lots of work gone into making his voice sound good in the studio for his albums, something which cant be done on stage unfortunately.

As I have said to my mates, if they played a festival I was attending I would definitely see them, however I wouldn't go to a festival just to see them. I'm sure once I get myself into a right tangle and they play all the old belters they would sound alright!

One thing that amazes me with Faithless is that they ended up being the megastars (If you discount The Prodigy) of the early rave scene.

They were nowhere near as good as the likes of K Klass and Shades Of Rhythm, yet here we are talking about them being potential headliners of a stage at Glasto.

Faithless seriously broke through later though. After Dance music / rave scene had become more mainstream. When K Klass were at their biggest, Dance music was about scary new drugs corrupting young minds and the Haçienda in Gunchester.

Insomnia  was a monster cross over hit, but the charts had already had 8/9 years of "club" hits. I doubt it would have been as big in 1990.

Move your body / rhythm is a mystery or Sweet Sensation were big club hits. I doubt the general public knew who they were.

slagging off Faithless by suggesting something much worse? Priceless.

I was right there in '88. And I was no fan of Faithless at all for years, until I experienced them live - and suddenly found myself getting them in a way that I never had done.

If you want to put stuff forwards such as K Kalss, there's much much better you could have referenced.

Faithless are a band of their time, but I enjoy them

- K Klass should have said "let me show you"

disco-pop-rave.

It had its place in the time, but there's a reason why it's not sustained.

(remember the days when Fabio, Grooverider, Carl Cox, etc, played that stuff? ... I even have a Carl Cox tape of that sort of stuff somewhere).

Was not a fan of the Hac as it was shit when I went, I was a Maximes kid. . To be fair I only used SOR and K Klass as examples. There were loads who could have gone on to bigger and better things (Sunscreem, 2 Bad Mice, Altern 8, SL2 and so on). Plus it gives me the opportunity to post this :-)

I am not slagging them off mate, just saying I am surprised they went on to huge mega stardom.

I will question the disco - pop - rave thing not sustaining though as it definitely has up here. Piano house is still pretty big and to this day the K Klass and SOR tunes still get a battering at old skool nights where as Faithless stuff is very rarely heard.

Can I add that I do actually like Faithless? :-)

I'm pretty happy to slag off Faithless without having to provide an alternative. Literally the most cringe inducing live act I've ever seen. God knows I despise 'Hey, Generic Town X,  it's great to be here, put your hands in the air' type shit, but they took it to another level.

I've just dug out that Carl Cox tape, called 'Carl Cox's Phantasy', and am giving it a listen.

It was a give-away at a rave I went to in about 1988, at one of the first late-licenced proper indoor raves (rather than an M25 jobbie) at one of the better known Hammersmith venues who's name I now forget (not what was the Odeon, but down the road about opposite on the circular one-way system). Given the name of the tape, it might have been a Phantasy do.

It's not quite as piano based as I was thinking when I wrote that post yesterday, but it's still very lightweight in what was the 1988 style. it's just going into a bit of mixed-in Yazoo, of all things

And now 'the morning after' by Fallout.
