dates for 2016?

having seen 2 signs one at Pennards where campsite crews had a white board saying dates for Festival 2016 - 17th to 19th June (same weekend as BST) and a printed one by the Tor Viewing platform saying the same dates - is this anarchy and misinformation, or does anyone know that they are moving it away from the last weekend in June to before the Solstice! That's not happened since the 80s.

The campsite crew also had some crazy football transfer rumours so I presumed it was fake - although it did have true Charlatans, Strypes, and Libertines on it before they happened too.

Thought it was always the weekend after the solstice. Hope it hasn't moved, people are already planning dates at work around the last weekend due to knowing I have to have that weekend!

Heard a few rumours on site (working) the specifics of which I won't repeat here as one I'm absolutely certain is bollocks, and others would be libellous if untrue...

But.. they point in broadly the same direction and tie in with Michaels comments before the Festival, namely that there's some doubt over use of some key land going forward, and may affect whether & when the Festival can next take place.

My Glastonbury Blues just kicked in about half an hour ago, this is not what I want to hear! :(

They always have the dates with the thank you message on the Pyramid screens after the Sunday headliner, I though it was strange that we didn't get that this year.

we've just had it confirmed to us by one of the big bosses that next year's dates are the expected dates of last weekend in June - so Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June 2016.

Oh thank you for fixing this up so quickly! Was making my post Glasto blues so much worse with the possibility of not being able to go next year!

Cheers for confirming that.

Various crew that I talked too over the weekend all had a different take on the land situation and a different story on what was happening. Not welcoming this uncertainly however - a broader, formal and binding policy / deal / contract with the surrounding landowners seems long overdue.

Is it down to the land owners now being greedy and asking for more money? Surely if it moved they would get no money so might be a tactic by ME to force their hands and lower their demands?

I don't know full details, but yes, it seems like the landowners are asking for ever-greater amounts each year ... and that the threat of moving is genuine, because those ever-growing payments can't be sustained.

So they need to realise that some money is better than no money ... but all they see is lots of money and think a load of it should be theirs.

They also seem to be becoming increasing inflexible with land usage as more landowners realise the additional cash they can make running their own lucrative external camping operations and thus reclaim their landholding for that operation rather than for car parking or crew camping.

You've put "Wednesday 23rd to Sunday 27th June 2016" in the news story.

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
    • Glad I’ve still got it booked off for my 50th
