In time I think Klopp will aim to sell most of our players, hopefully Allen and lovren being the first ones. Theirs a lot of hype going around now for him though so will be interesting to see his team selections and formations, good win for Ireland last night but as said they have a very long way to go lol. And is it just me or are most of the "big" teams not just in the EPL but in the world just suddenly under performing massively? Not many people could of expected Germany to get beat by Ireland and another example is look at teams like the Netherlands, going from a great world cup result to on the brink of no euro's and then look at the EPL, might even be losing a champions league spot.. I mean if theirs a time both my favourite teams can do something ( England / Liverpool ) its pretty much within this year and next depending on if these teams still begin to slack.

James Forrest shouldn't be getting picked for Scotland at all, but now it appears we're putting him in the starting XI. He's an absolute shambles of a winger, and I can only assume he has files on each of his managers who are both blind to the fact that he's absolutely shit.

I didn`t want to comment on this last night in case he proved us both wrong but doesn`t everyone know that Alan is the more talented Forrest brother. We`ve known this for a while down my way  ;)

Slightly exaggerating in all your points there. There's still no doubting Germany will be at the Euros, and once there, will be the favourite and far more likely to win than England.

Also Netherlands are still not completely out yet either - if they win both their remaining games (against Kazakhstan & Czech Republic) then they still have a good chance of making the play offs, seeing as they are 2 points behind Turkey who have Czech Republic and Iceland still to play (the top two teams in the group).

If you look at how the Netherlands have played u will see why I made that statement + they're without Robben which is a big blow. All turkey have to do is win 1 and draw and the Netherlands has to win 2 but with this form its very unlikely. I didn't say anything about who was "likely" to win it but more or less the fact that the good teams are playing horrific, most of the lower teams can pull off upsets just like in the world cup at this rate. Germany are my favourites to win it and they was in the world cup too but England can still make something happen if the other teams under perform but as we have all seen when it comes to big competitions England bottle it. I wouldn't want to diminish Irelands results. However Germany are a tournament team who generally peak at the right time.  Even a poor German side that had been thrashed by England in qualification got to the world cup final in 2002.  I think you can take German qualifiers with a pinch of salt, they see them as a means to an end.

Bottle it, or lose to better teams? Its pretty rare to see England knocked out by minnows.

I believe the England team are able to give out "more" than they currently do, whether that's the players lack of passion and just wanting the money or whether its the manager but maybe I'm being abit too optimistic but I think we could make it to the semi finals of the Euro's if we really did try because there's not that many "good" European teams out there and to be fair I think sometimes Hodgsons team choices/formations are poor.

I dont think anything you say could, even if you really tried hard to.

We beat a team that had some of the best players in the world in it with a team that has some players that barely play football, let alone at a high level.

This result is up there with some of Ireland's best ever. Shame taking 4 points from Germany still does not guarantee us an automatic place

I think the passion and the money arguments are generally lazy journalism.  IN my view the English players are no more (or less) passionate or money obsessed than anyone else.  There problems are more related to ability than effort.

Completely agree.

The biggest problem that England have had for the past how ever many years is the lack of creative players.  Yes, we have had/ have very good payers but when you see where they are placed in the domestic teams it becomes apparent. City have Silva, Liverpool have Coutinho, Arsenal have ozil/ cazorla, United have Mata, Chelsea have Oscar. England don't have that player that keeps the team connected and fluid. Haven't had for years - the nearest thing we have had is Rooney but people insist on playing him as a lone striker where you completely nullify that ability.

England culturally produce good solid footballers; who can head, win tackles even good goal scorers but barring the odd anomaly its that creative link player that we have always lacked.

Edit: this is also the reason why I see Barkley's development as the catalyst for England improvement. He is the only player in the England squad that plays as his domestic team's primary playmaker.

Well while I thought England wouldn't get out the group stages of the World Cup for various reasons, I wouldn't say they were knocked out by teams with a better ability (other than Suarez). So yeah they do seem to bottle it to an extent. (Which is partly down to tactics/team selection.)

I'm just waiting for the media to start

Everton are being selfish and should sell him immediately .. Barkley needs to develop properly for England by sitting on Chelsea's bench

Everton is definitely the best place for him at the moment. Cant really see him going anywhere else any time soon either.

Great point. Going to Chelsea the -last- thing he should do. The Ev are going ok this year.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
