GregsyA
Another poster started a great thread last year in search of recommendations for acts who may not be that well known, but are guaranteed to get you jumping around with a stupid grin on your face. For example last year, I was introduced to Crystal Fighters via that thread, and they proved the perfect way to kick off the Friday evening (as well us getting us into the JP Tent during before one of the massive thunderstorms). Happy, uplifting, danceable music. Who are this year’s acts who are going to give us our party?

Supernintendo Chalmers
I saw Jungle play a mid-afternoon festival slot in the sunshine earlier this year. That was a whole lot of fun
Homer
Freestylers in The Glade on Friday early evening. Live breaks with a lot of bass. Grandmaster Flash drops all sorts of pop records when he DJs at tests - Let's Dance by Bowie, Queen, etc. 11pm, Sunday in Sonic I think. Likearollingstone
Not really that unknown at Glastonbury but Baggy Mondays put on a decent party, madchester type dj set and singalong, on the thursday 7-8:30 in the Stonebridge bar. Also Neville Staple band could be a great alternative to Kanye if he's not your thing.
FloorFiller
I saw Jungle play a mid-afternoon festival slot in the sunshine earlier this year. That was a whole lot of fun i hate them on record but saw them play at Primavera and they were great! all the songs sounded the same, but they were a great fun band (that was at night with a lot of lights flashing though, although i'm sure it'll still be great during the day)

I saw them on the John Peel last year and they put on a great show, was very disappointed with their recorded album that followed in the summer. But is probably a matter of taste as i know loads who love them.

I was very sad reading through the full lineup yesterday in my ticketless state. Hoping to return next year with at least three first-timer best friends though, which would be such a thrill! Thanks for that thread then, yes it definitely got the weekend off to the best possible start. Hoping for some more this year (and I feel your pain) - here's to a successful ticket day for you in October!
GregsyA
And more generally, will definitely be Mothershipping, Hot Chip seems the obvious Friday night party, but with this being probably my only chance to see SFA , it's a goddamn conundrum. So also interested to hear of some of the less obvious party acts. Keep 'em coming...

Tigerdragon
How good were Crystal Fighters - one of the best acts last year. The best act of last year. Absolutely loved it.
Likearollingstone
Very much agreeing with people saying Crystal Fighters in 2014 - I also think a lot of it is down to the John Peel tent. Great area for smaller bands/artists. Anybody got any suggestions for similar feel good acts on the JP this year? Nice to get out of the rain/sun during the day sometimes and have a good party. Mr November
If you happen to be somewhere that New York Brass Band pop up, you're going to have a lot of fun.

Saw them in the rocket lounge i think last year, made me laugh that they were actually from Yorkshire and not New York. Interesting setlist to say the least! Agreed, for me it was the combination - the Friday evening timing , the packed venue, and the band. Big highlight of '14.
Gedh
"Who are this year’s acts who are going to give us our party?" Thanks for this thread, what a great idea - never mind how well known a band is, who gives a good time :-)
