What ever happened to them. I thought they were quite good. Saw them at T.

Oh yes hard -fi they were a great band and it is shame they are not still going. I remembering seeing them at V in 2011 in the arena and I was blown away how good they were and one of my fave festival shows ever. Plus I thought 1975's are taking a break as they taken themselves off all types of social media, but could be a publicly stunt.

Yeah it was a publicity stunt. They reactivated the next day and announced a tour.

The Strokes went from 6th down NME to headliners in one year.

I know it was extreme circumstances but Arctic Monkeys went from playing Carling stage at Reading to headlining Glastonbury in 2 years

I know this stuff. They both subbed or headlined on their first album whereas The 1975 subbed the NME Stage. Not comparable.

How about 4th from bottom NME to headline in 3 years? Royal Blood look like they might do it.

3rd down main stage to main stage headliner in two years has a better ring to it.

what the fuck is with people on this forum and comparing bands success to The Strokes or Arctic Monkeys

jesus christ

The 1975's presence in the discussion had no relevance to people mentioning Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes in response to dental's post. No one's comparing them.

Sub would be where I'd put The 1975 next year, they'd get a very big crowd going on before Florence or someone.

Just a quick thought. Where do people reckon Frank Turner will peak?

The 1975 could probably do that yeah, how I've got no bloody idea but it's what the kids like.

I don't think Frank will play anything above sub, I'm even skeptical about him getting that slot.

Also, this stunt they did has gone RIDICULOUSLY well if it has people formerly on the fence scrabbling for tickets

Aye when they first deactivated and that loads of people were like "I don't like them but this is interesting/a good publicity stunt" etc, then a load of the same people seemed to end up getting tickets.

The 1975 and Royal Blood will both headline if they continue as they are

I think the 1975 will headline first... something tells me album number 2 for Royal Blood may switch things up a bit more.

The 1975 are almost destined for a second album that madly exceeds the first in sales, but i've probably jinxed it now. Their audience is constantly growing.

Do you know what inoffensive means?

Also, this stunt they did has gone RIDICULOUSLY well if it has people formerly on the fence scrabbling for tickets and their former detractors saying 'they're alright actually'. Scouting For Girls should do the same.

Haven't people been saying there's still tickets for their academy sized tour (Smaller than their last one) left? I expected it to be gone in no time when I saw the venue sizes Edited by DGrant261

That's impressive. Also the same thing Matt42 did last week. Maybe that's where they got the idea.

I still don't get the 1975 hate really. Just pretty naff and pretty catchy. They're not as inoffensive as shite like Catfish or BMTH or whatever the fuck JAN listens to that he doesn't get into via eFests.

What? My Bloody Valentine and Godspeed You! Black Emperor are great! Don't know what you're on about. Going crazy

    • I feel like it's not COMPLETELY beyond the realm of possibility that they could headline but I just don't see it.    They're not doing anything other than headlining. So nah, I don't see it.
    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
