For fucks sake, you've been one of the best posters round here recently then you go and say stupid things like that.

Haha, I've never got the hype. My mates rave about it like crazy but I'm not sure. A Game of Thrones was alright, then A Clash of Kings really bored me. It was difficult to get through. I said to myself that I'll stop after ASOS part 1 if it doesn't blow me away and like the first book, I thought it was just alright.

I've been told that a couple of the books ahead are tough to get through, but the rest is mostly phenomenal. I might go back to it in the summer if that really is the case.

But for their prices you could go to a decent restaurant selling fresh local ingredients and actually have something really nice.

It's like ask. Not bad Italian food but for the prices they charge it's ridiculous

There's a place near mine which delivers Peri Peri chicken which is arguably nicer than Nando's for about 3/4 of the price. I just stick to that.

A few years ago Nandos were really good, then they started popping up everywhere and the quality / quantity went down as the price went up. A bit like Harvester, 10 years ago they were great, but now only the breakfast is any good.

Top Nando's fact: they only make the hot sauce and then dilute or reduce as necessary to make the medium or extra hot. Also, the hot will vary throughout the year due to using different chillis, but the medium (and I think the extra hot) will stay the same as they always bring it down/up to the same consistent level. And if you ask for your chicken extra hot that just means they baste it twice/on both sides, I forget which.

My brother is a Nando's griller so I get all the juicy goss (but not discount).

i hope i'm wrong, but is there still not a nando's stand at glasto?

i hear reading fest is getting one this year and that could sway my vote to sack off glasto and go have a cheeky nandos and rock out to the wombats!

Is that you Tommmy?

Lived in Jamaica for a year and can confirm that the jerk chicken in Shangri La is top notch stuff. I recommend getting involved.

Been to Nandos once, didn't make much of an impression on me other than it was a bit much effort and no inclination to return.

Yeah I can get lost in the lovely writing and the political weirdness of it. Unlike anything else I've read. Been bought up in a family where my dad reads lots of fantasy, which I largely struggle with, but love these ones. Dad struggles however! If you want books where something happens... maybe these aren't for you! Definitely the sort of books that benefit from a re-read.. I haven't the time these days unfortunately.

Over-rated things: Daft Punk.

Saw a quote recently attributed to Elmore Leonard "When you write, try to leave out all the parts readers skip" Wish George R.R. Martin had heeded this advice. For my tastes he spent too long describing everything, especially the all the different family standards.

Edit: Should say I did enjoy the books

    • I would imagine those kinds of accounts are only active around festival time, so if you don't get an answer sooner it would make sense to try again come June next year.
