Trolley on coach?

I got the coach from Glasgow in 2013 and got something similar on no probs. Driver just opened the hold bit and left everyone to it. Being at the front of the cue helps but as long as nobody takes the piss there should be plenty room. Only so much everyone can carry and you can take a rucksack onto the bus as well.

you aren't allowed trolleys on the coach. When I got the coach down in 2013 the driver took all the trolleys out and dumped them on the floor and left them there! there is barely any room for everyones bags/tents/sleeping bags, trolleys just take up too much space and it isn't fair on others who then might not be able to fit their bags in the hold.

Suppose it must be at the discretion of the driver. There were 2 buses from Glasgow and nothing got left. If a tent, bag etc is strapped onto a trolley is it really taking up a load more space than without the wheels?

I'm driving this year but if I was getting the coach again I would be taking the trolley again. Had 2 weans in tow so wouldn't have managed without it.

i think it says when you book your tickets that trolleys arent allowed on the coach. it really depends on the drivers though. under the coach will be totally rammed and obviously bags and tents have priority. last year plenty of people were stuck holding their crates because there was no room elsewhere.

i think I'm gonna roll all of my stuff up to the coach on the trolley and then take it all off and fold my trolley up as a kind of compromise - perhaps put crates in the overhead bit. i'd hate for something like that up there ^^^ to happen - i doubt it happens much, but obviously if there's an excess of luggage stuff like trolleys and crates are gonna be getting chucked first

I find this a very interesting topic.

None of us are getting any younger and personally, I couldn't do Glastonbury without my trolley.

I am fortunate enough to have acquired a GE ticket this year, which (obviously) means that I can take my car and my trolley with no bother (though I'm sure I will still find it slightly tiring).

What concerns me is that I have volunteered a couple of times, and the organisation in question have made it quite clear that they intend, in future, for everyone to travel by mandated coach (you were previously allowed to bring a car if you had: 1) Worked for them before, or 2) had mobility issues)

So:

1) Could I take my trolley?

2) If yes, how am I supposed to get my trolley from my house to the nearest train station, and then across London to the coach pick up point?

And, I guess:

3) Do my respiration issues count as a mobility problem?

This is slightly hypothetical. I've had a number of years to think about this.

Edit: Before GW pops up. I am aware that crew coaches pretty much mostly drop you right next to crew campsites (hope you're well mate).

Trolleys on public transport are a thorny issue, as sometimes it's no problem and sometimes there's simply not space. As with all things like gazebos, flags and chairs, it comes down to whether a small minority bring them or everyone does.

I'd say only bring as much as you need with you, travel as light as possible if you are coming by coach. I've taken one of the funky festivals fold up ones they sell on this site on shuttle buses off the site without a problem and seen an assortment of trolleys and wheelbarrows forced to be abandoned at the coach station.

The phrase "an assortment of trolleys etc.suggests "random" to me.

This is what slightly concerns me about the walking/train/walking/coach thing (and I may have missed an Underground there)

So I go to all of that effort and am told to drop it?.

Like has been said, it seems to be up to the driver. NE just say one bag allowed in the hold but I don't think they mention trolleys. One year I did see someone turned away with a bag plus trolley but they told them they'd try the next coach - it was London so plenty were leaving. Seetickets coaches are bit of a different proposition as there aren't as many of them.

Doesn't it say one bag, one hand luggage, and one tent per person? Pretty sure crates and the like aren't supposed to be brought.

Either way, space is limited. Last year the driver opened the luggage compartment and it was an unorganised free for all, with everyone shoving their stuff in wherever, and as a result myself and others couldn't even fit our bags and tents in. Then there was a massive delay while everything was repacked. Pretty sure some stuff got left behind.

Generally the driver will use their heads. If there's three of you, that's a luggage allowance for three people, and the kids aren't going to have their own huge rucksacks so I imagine that'd be fine. It's when people are bringing trolleys of booze on top of a rucksack/tent each that you get an issue.

Was it in 2013 when Michael Eavis said no trolleys? Or did I just imagine that?

Anyway I'm thinking of investing in a trolley this year but also going by coach! I can just about carry my bag, never mind the tent, sleeping bag, crates of beer, chairs, etc.

It was more about bringing in crates of alcohol, he didn't want everyone getting bladdered

Will be my and friends first Glastonbury this year. In total there is a group of 24! of us that will be there together (friends of friends and the like) - and all of us bar 5 will be going by coach (the 5 will be going by train).

What is the deal with crates? Can they be taken on the coaches? Would you want to take them on the coaches, or is there a realist option of getting it near the festival?

I saw a comment a page back that said their are shuttle buses that you could take on the Thursday, is this a doable thing? (would it depend on where you are camping?

Apologies for the 20 questions, am just trying to get my head organised, so that I will have ample to make my head unorganised when I'm there.

We have a massive holdall that the booze, tent.2 sleeping bag and blow up bed etc all fit into, plus the trolley folds away and fits inside too. This has all our camping equipment in it for the 2 of us. Worked a treat for the seecoaches last year

How big is this holdall? I am curious, as that sounds like something I wouldn't mind doing.. just to make it easier for getting the stuff on and off the coach!
