But isn't that because you have been to loads of festivals over the past few years? Not too sure what you were expecting, there's not a lot of new headline/sub acts around at the moment so of course you will get loads of stuff you've seen before. I think your reaction is partly based on you have been to loads of festivals and seen loads of these acts over the last few years, so there aren't many acts who who'd excite you at the moment (like a Portishead from 2013 were!) most festival punters wouldn't have seen many of the acts. I think it's a good initial line-up, very mainstream pop friendly but then that was always going to be the case with such a small main-stage/other stage initial announcement

... And how can you not be excited by Motorhesd, FF featuring Sparks and The Moody Blues?!

I only go to Glastonbury and EOTR. I live in Russia so don't really get to go to gigs or anything.

Dunno, I'm happy other people are liking it, but who's a real 'fuck me!' booking there? There's a couple I guess, George Clinton etc, Mavis Staples. Don't see the big fuss about say Motorhead. if you like them, you could have seen them anywhere over the last few years for 20 quid or something.

But it's all cool, I'm still looking forward to it, still can't wait to get in there, just nobody to base my weekend around seeing. Guess it goes back to what we've discussed on here before, the lack of one-off events and acts.

Anyone good at writing books?

We could get one made up of Matt42's most famous sayings and predictions.

This gem is over on the 'Line up - whose missing' thread.

hmm seems there's a lot missing from the pyramid... or maybe not I don't know.

Fucking hell... Edited by TheParkAfterDark

yep, I can now confirm that theouterlimits has provided info that's been 100% accurate so far with what's verifiable so far.

What info is left that isn't verifiable at the minute?

Childish, I know, I'm giggling at the fact they're going under the acronym of FFS.

I don't often buy band tshirts but I think I'll make an exception on this occasion ;)

Yeah, you wouldn't say special guests if it was Prince, Bowie etc. Would you?

Oh, I think they'd get a Very Special Guest, wouldn't they?

Is it or were THE FALL meant to be banned from Glasto? I read in the guide once (2009 i think).

EDIT: not to put a downer on Fall fans or anything. I think it's great as I don't think that bands should be categorically banned

Well...

My first Glastonbury, my first Glastonbury announcement.

Having spent unhealthy amounts of time on here in the run up, I'm not sure how I feel.

I definitely do not feel disappointed, that would be ridiculous. Maybe I feel just a tiny bit deflated, and I think I know why. the run up to the announcement of my annual festival is always a massive thrill. But, in all other years, the content has been a genuine surprise. This year, people's tips/logic/speculation has been so accurate, that I kind of 'knew' most of what is on today's poster was coming. As such, that amazing announcement buzz has been slightly dampened. Additionally, I always knew that for me, Glastonbury was always going to be about the undercard, and by that I mean the 'little' bands, rather than the medium sized bands on the bigger stages. I'm presuming, for instance, that there's not a lot of Park undercard on that list etc.

So, I also have to remind myself that there is so much more to come of what will be stuff that I really get excited about.

Saying that, there's still loads on the poster for me!

Ben

hehehe I'm firmly convinced FFS worked out the name first and then figured out it was such a stroke of genius that they'd better make some music to go with it

For me it's one of them lineups where IF I did have a ticket there would be more than enough for me to see (most of them I already have) however I Dont have a ticket and there is not enough for me to be bothered about getting one in the slightest.

Pretty sure Jason fell out with Eavis too so surprised to see him there.

Must have kissed and made up.

I'd like to think they went through a few artists before settling on Sparks.

Seal was the number one target, but when he pulled out it was out of Sparks and Slade.

I know who the final headliner is.

(I wish)

I assume your other info, if previously unsubstantiated, couldn't previously have been listed as more than a rumour but could now conceivably be upgraded even as far as tbc? Neil?

Banned Twice but back for a third time! (4 if you count Gorrilaz) You can't keep Smith down.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
