Woah, woah, woah. Brian himself may not have been brilliant, but his backing band were at the height of their powers, having just toured Smile. Musically, it was excellent. So many musicians on stage doing faithful renditions of Brian's original 60s arrangements.

Myself and Nal in tears of laughter doing Keith Moon's to Barbra Ann. V memorable show. Played 25 odd songs. A gig going highlight.

I saw Beyonce instead of QOTSA in 2011, girl I was at the festival with was desperate to see her and if we had split up at that point I would have been on my own for the rest of the night, having already seen QOTSA about 4 times prior to that I made the choice, and actually had an alright time at Beyonce.

I saw Marina and the Diamonds instead of LCD Soundsystem at Reading a while back. She was brilliant but wtf was I doing.

I also seemed to be one of very few people not at Dolly Parton last year (went to Dry The River) but I don't regret that one :P

The only reason why I didn't do the same was because I knew Dry The River were playing Avalon that night. That was a very special set and glad I waited to see them until the evening.

I wasn't at Dolly either.

Stayed at Public Service Broadcasting and then went to the Park for a wander I think.

Don't regret it either!

Dry The River were staying in our hotel at Pukkelpop in 2011, the year of the massive storm. Seemed like good guys.

They were actually playing when the tornado hit and lost all their stuff I believe.

Could have been a lot worse mind you as the entire marquee they were playing in was gone by the end

Ah fair enough, that evening set must've been pretty good. I think I debated going to that but ended up at James Blake

Nice to see some love in here for Dry The River. Matt has some new material coming soon - check out waylorland.com

I got some news from him t'other day that suggests no Glastonbury this year, but could be wrong.

To stay on topic, I was in my tent and it started throwing it down so decided to maintain shelter for a while. Had a nap, woke up and I'd missed Robert Plant. So disappointed in myself.

Re: Portishead v Arctic's v Chic. I opted for Portishead and found it a strange gig. One great song played expertly, then a lesser known song sounding like a dirge - repeat until end. Fair to say I half enjoyed it.

My Mrs thoroughly loved the Arctic's (even though the kids were with her and playing her up). Strangely though we both really regret missing Chic.

I don't think there was a right call that night, just a horrific clash of three good bands.

Chic was such fun, real party time! As you said though, three good bands and I would happily have watched them all. Shame they weren't spread over the rest of the weekend as the other headliners on the mainstages that year were a bit disappointing.

I saw the Arctics and thought they were brilliant. Better than The Stones the following night.

Skipped Neil Young in 09. Saw him open with Hey Hey My My, then wandered off to watch Q-Tip. Good times were had.

Recently, I regularly think why DID I go and see Rolf Harris.

At the time I loved this. It was my first glasto and he was the opening set. I couldn't believe the crowd he had. Now I'm so so disappointed. And outraged. And gutted. The news really upset me. I'm a prison officer and work with this type of offender yet it still hit me hard

Because he was a much loved TV personality, who was held in fond regard by millions. His 2010 performance was a happy memory for me right up until the court case got underway and it turned out the fucker was guilty. Fucking twat.

Here here!!

Yikes!

Im personally still smarting over that Gorillaz gig and the fact I didnt head to the Other stage for the Lips..........

But my darkest Glasto day (not clash decision related) is the Sunday in 2010 when I missed a full day with the exception of half of a Slash gig due to sun stroke........

No Ray Davies

No Stevie Wonder

No Faithless

No LCD Sound System

No Orbital

There was a fair amount of clashiness I did not even get to consider there :(

Thom I feel so sad for you right now. All were awesome. Orbital was the best Eva!!! The rest were brilliant too. 2010 was my first year. Fooking brilliant.

My stand out glastonbury regret was seeing Mumford instead of the xx in 2013. Not quite in the level of others mistakes, especially as I'll more than likely see them some day...

I don't want to rub salt in the wound, but what you actually did there was see Mumford and Sons instead of Bobby Womack.

    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
