Reverend Paytons Big Damn Band have a new album out.

Mighty fine it is too.

Saw them in the Croissant Neuf last year and was very very good.

They were superb on West Holts, loved it when the washboard player smashed it up at the end :)

Kendrick's album has a release day and it looks like "i" might not be on the album and the closer is something like 12 minutes long!

Also, I'm currently listening to Sufjan's new album that just leaked, it's beautiful, if "michigan" or "seven swans" is your favourite from his catalogue you've likely got a new favourite, based on the first listen this will probably be one of my favourite albums of the year, really fantastic stuff, will probably get the vinyl when it's released.

The Courtney leak is apparently obviously audio watermarked so someone's going to be in trouble! Apparently it's skipping too, I'm just gonna wait for the real thing. MM and SS to listen to this evening though - what a lovely night in, I hope.

I pre-ordered the MM album so I'm happy to wait for the release, I've got loads of music to be listening to anyway, good to pace myself. I've really been enjoying the many tracks that've come out so far, though. Loads of people who've listened to it are saying it's their favourite since The Moon & Antarctica, I actually love the last two albums, so I'm not going to be one of the people bleating about how The Mouse are back for the first time in 15 years.

really enjoying the Modest Mouse album. too early to say how it stands against their past releases but it's definitely not a disappointment and was worth the wait. always feel that the longer the wait between albums the bigger the fear that it could be terrible

I've put quite a few "fuck you, Issac Brock, the new album will be embarrassingly shit and I'm going to laugh at you when it is" rants out on the internet since the 2013 tour was cancelled. I feel rather sheepish about them now.

I don't think it's a return to the apex of their existence but it's very good, just like the last few are. They don't really do bad or middling records.

Carrie & Lowell is pretty fucking divine. I think Father John Misty has met his first major competitor in the critics' album of the year race.

When is the new Frank Ocean album due? Not building hopes for him performing but it would be nice to hear something new from him.

not a clue. he's been very quiet on the new album front - maybe he's just gonna drop it out of nowhere as is the custom these days. no shows announced for this year so far so maybe it's not gonna be ready for a long while

yep love it. still somewhat pine for another grandiose album in the vein of Illinoise, but i realise that's probably never gonna happen. this one's just lovely. can see it getting a lot of plays from me

As someone who's favourite in his catalogue has always been Michigan I'm really thrilled (well, more accurately, depressed) to hear the "stripped-down" (sorry for using such an overused buzzword) sound. Fourth of July fucking breaks me.

Listened to it about 10 times in the past day or two. Definitely AOTYSF for me. It's a bold claim but personally I can't see much topping it for me, it's really beautiful.

New Grimes track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9XKLqGqwLA

Sounds really good, though it's not going to be on the album.

I really like this. I'm a big, big fan of hers, and if this is an indication of what her scrapped album was like, it's a shame we probably won't hear all of it.

    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
    • That's how I'd see it, either or, 3 BST rules her out.
    • Surely the chances of Madonna doing three+ nights at BST and also Glastonbury is pretty low? I know Elton did (2?) nights at BST but it seems like it’s one or the other at this point?   A shame. I think she would be absolutely brilliant - plus, unfortunately, given that she isn’t as able as she was means this could be a now or never situation?
    • All of these were published in July of their respective year. Appreciate the festival is a little later than normal but it must surely be live in the next 48 hours? The first events start in five days! 🤣
