Thread meet-up

And so, team, attention turns to the annual Glastonbury Herding Cats Competition™️!

We have, for the last few years attempted, with varying success, to try to get some of the Thread faithful together on a dance floor, to put faces to usernames and have an on-Farm celebratory dance, doing one of the things we all love so much.

As ever, I will be in no way dictatorial, so am open to ideas as to which sets people feel might lend themselves to a get together.

Sunday night at The Temple seems to be on many people's schedule, so it's probably reasonable to have that one as a likely venue.

The other one that sticks out is, of course, fish56octagon on Greenpeace (Rave Tree), Saturday 2230-0000h. I'll defo be there and would dearly love the chance to meet up with some of you, those that I've danced with before and those I haven't.

Anyway, thoughts and answers on a postcard (ask your parents, Youngers...) with any ideas you might have.

Not long now, gang.

I'm not fussed, i'll try to make it to wherever the masses decide. Didn't manage it last year but I'll do me best this year.

How, in practical terms, would you go about meeting somewhere like the Temple? I’ll almost definitely be there on the Sunday night and would love to say hello

Yes, it's tricky! I'll defo be on the floor rather than in the bleachers, dead centre to the booth, at perfect sonic distance away 😆.

My suggestion is KI/KI at the Temple but maybe a Thursday date would be a good idea too

I'm definitely going to be at Fish56octagon, seems a fair few on her might be at Joy Orbison Thursday, as a Thursday option? I'm there anyway 😄

If you see @bennyhana22 at various stages, make sure you collect your badge off him. I'm making him carry these round with his BenFinder.

I badly want one of these. But for someone who’s never met the Captain, how will we recognise him? Covered head to toe in badges that we can un-pin from his jacket? Carnation in his lapel? The Times under his arm?

I will 100% be at the Fish56Octagon trance set on Saturday night. And will absolutely be at the Blind Tiger on Thursday afternoon for the Peaky T set. Will try for any others but do have some squad commitments at stuff I’m not overly excited about but I haven’t partied with them for so long that we’ll be trying to keep everyone together through the week. That’s good news for anyone in our vicinity. All are proper ravers and will drag anyone along for the ride, whether they want to come or not!! 😉

It's surprisingly easy.

There is always more room down the front of a DJ set, so head there to the dead centre, turn around and walk/shimmy slowly into the crowd. Prime position is usually around 10-15 people in. Look for a Duracell Bunny that looks remarkably like that badge.

(There may well be a WhatsApp group too.)

I came across this article yesterday, it's a bit of a long read but wow what a journey. I've never come across his boiler room set and can't believe he's at 11 million views. Such a shame he's not playing at glast but I've put myself on the wait list for burgess park.  He's ferocious in his dj style but glorious too! Anyway you probs don't need a dj not playing at glast this year but hopefully he will in the future.

Assuming I'm not working Sunday night shift, which - if I've got the bar I've requested - will be a midnight finish at worst - then I shall see you at the Temple. My 11th Glastonbury and I've never been inside the Temple, it's time to fix it.

I haven't sorted my plan for the week yet, it's too much admin when I don't know my shifts, but once again will be a lone wolf much of the time so will post my plans in the WhatsApp in case anyone can tolerate an extra dance partner.

For full disclosure, these were organised, unbeknownst to me, by a dear camp-mate and pal of mine. I will, of course, enter into the spirit of this, despite the suggestion of shameless (and baseless 😆) self-aggrandisement, as he's gone to so much trouble.

However, they will need to be requested, should we come across one another on a Farm dance floor.

Thus endeth the Public Service Announcement.

    • Had a lovely day in Prague now off to the festival. Very excited hope we all have fun regardless of weather!!
    • Iran are winning. If US aren't going to do the full invasion thing, then they may as well admit defeat and do what is needed to get the strait opened. Iran obviously have decided they can take any pain and stick it out as they have all the cards with this Hormuz thing. But obviously Trump can't admit defeat, and Israel just want this to keep going...and maybe it will carry on like this till after elections in both US and Israel towards the end of this year. God knows how the global economy will be by then.
    • All kicking off in N Ireland, all aided and abetted on videos that get circulated on social media and Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson telling people to take to the streets. Social media needs regulating same as publishers, if they have algorithms that push whatever to people then they are effectively publishers anyway. The problem is just going to get worse and worse.
