Anyone going to the four tet squid soup shows?

I foolishly didn’t get a ticket in gen sale and now I wish I did

Yeah, going to the Thursday show. Extremely excited about it. I’ve been watching videos from the LA shows and they look amazing despite being on a much, much smaller scale than Alexandra palace.

Little bit of proud parent JAGing...

Child 1, established Berliner and now Berghain regular, is putting on his first festival! And it got the RA Pick, he tells me.

So, any European threaders, or those likely to be in and around Berlin in the summer...

Kiek Beyond Festival, Nr. Berlin, 11-13 August

Agh, the cheeky little buggers! I'm guessing they'll be Temple sets. If they remain secret until they happen, that will test the commitment of those prepared to queue!

Been keen to see Effy for ages, so hopefully her slot is a good one.

And as if by magic she’s on The Common lineup! AMAZING!

About time we had some proper Techno. Shame VTSS isn’t on there too as will miss her set in Silver Hayes on Thursday 😞

There will be techno, young Twigs, don't you fret. Though I suspect that we have very slightly differing views on 'proper' techno 😄.

Can't wait for tomorrow night - night of deep, hypnotic techno in Brum including Feral and Luigi Tozzi!

I’m over 40, but i’ll take the “young” 😂

“Proper” is a bit tongue in cheek tbh, I like all sorts (mostly glitchy electronica) but seen too many wishy washy techno sets lately that ought to have been banging.

As I said, young 😂

And I know exactly what you mean. I've become increasingly picky about when I go out (not that it's that often, but I need to be 100% sure that I'm gonna get what I'm looking for...).

Haai maybe?

Yup - HAAi b2b I.JORDAN should be some pretty good, varied techno. I.JORDAN is a good selector and can throw in glitchy stuff too, so I'm looking at that.

Effy I've been wanting to see for a while, and she should give you a high-quality 'nuanced' techno set too.

OH FFS Volvox is playing London in 12th May too.

Missing two of my favourite DJs rare London sets.

Oooh. Like a bit of Volvox.

Saw Oscar Mulero for 3 hours in January after waiting years to see him. I feel your pain.

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
    • Yeah its absolutely on me that isn't think Shinia Twain was an awful choice- i get that.  Im still of the paul simon, ELO kind of thoughts but I realise things change. Im still intrigued what constitutes legend though. Robert plant played and he wasn't a legend slot- to me that would have fitted. Is it a ' comedy ' ' good time ' slot now? Comedy isn't the right word - guilty pleasure or something like that?
