Can't imagine you can put on an event like that every year without some (or loads) of argie-bargie behind the scenes. In fact I bet it's anything other than 'peace and love' at times.

Best not to look behind the veil :)

The other year i was chatting to a fireman i know at Leeds Festival. The week before the festival started they turned up in full gear and fire engine to check the main stage for emergency water supplies and fire extinguishers etc - He said the woman in charge of the stage that day was a right t**t and seemed to enjoy keeping the fire service waiting

Reminds me of an ex site manager for a well known but unpublicised festival in the Midlands. He seemed to enjoy making life hard for crew and contractors, always looking for problems rather than solutions....He didn't last long.

Purple rince?

What were/are his demands?

I did wonder about that when I saw him at the Electric Ballroom. Having played there myself, and knowing how unglamorous the 'facilities' were backstage, I wondered how Prince dealt with it.

At the O2 on the 3121 residency, he was wheeled to and from the stage inside a giant flight-case

It is easy

Top class hotel , chauffered to the venue in a limo , walk into stage from stage door , straight onto stage .

Set finishes and straight back into limo.

I read that Neil Peart sprints from his drumset after last hit of the drum and is one his tour bus in seconds !!!

are dick and his team considered "the best in the business" so to speak or would they be fairly interchangeable with other similar outfits?

Obviously having 20 years experience at worthy farm is not easy to replace, but I get the sense that, as others have noted, its not likely the paying punter is going to notice any difference right?

obviously big stage, sound, lights, props its very specialist work but equally there must be plenty of others willing to do the job. I just wonder what the irreconcilable differences are..... its probably nothing to worry about
