If you could arrive at any time

...when would it be?

Last year I arrived on Thursday by coach. This year I'm in a group but coming by cars. Would you recommend over-nightling in the car park and fighting the queue when the gates open or getting there later in a more composed and leisurely fashion? I'm planning on probably finding a spot in Big Ground or Row Mead for four tents.

We went with the coach package arriving about 2ish, this year I've booked to leave Leeds at 2.30 am so should be getting there about 9.30, hopefully the queue will have calmed a bit by then. But I eould still rather be there earlier rather than later

I set off at around 7:30am on the Wednesday from West London and get there at about 10am. The traffic is fine and I don't experience any queues, also there is plenty of space to pitch my tent up on Michael's Mead.

I am lucky enough to get a parking pass in Pilton Village though and that might be a reason why I don't experience any queues.

We tend to get there about 8am on the Wednesday. We only do this to get a particular camping spot we are fond of.

Last year we were working so arrived Tuesday, it was nice to have a wander about without the crowds but there wasn't much to do.

If I could arrive anytime and still have our particular spot it would be early afternoon Wednesday. That was when we used to arrive a good few years ago before Wednesday arrival became so popular.

The queues don't bother me. I'm already in holiday mode from the moment we set off and I see it as all part of the journey and experience. It's the really early morning drive I could do without.

I'm lucky as we can get on site On the Sunday before to set up our caravan and chill before the madness starts ! It's great seeing the site empty

Lucky you!

I can only leave on the Thursday and for this reason glamp for the benefit of arriving and getting straight on it!

And not having to find space in an already pretty full site.

We've camped in bushy ground the last 2 years and always had space, even on Friday there was space. Bit of a mission to get to Shangri-La though but John Peel, Arcadia area and Silver Hayes / Other stage are pretty close

We aim to arrive Wednesday lunchtime nowadays.

When I first started going (2003,04) you could arrive Wednesday afternoon and pick a spot practically anywhere.

2007 -2009 we started arriving for gates opening and although a bit of a queue at the gates providing you were in by lunchtime again you could get a 'prime' spot for a reasonable sized group.

From 2010 it's been manic first thing Wednesdays. Big queues and even if you get in early popular spots are rammed. Found the stampede to get in quite a stressful experience tbh.

We now aim to arrive at lunchtime to avoid the initial queues and we're quite happy to camp in somewhere like Pylon where you get to enjoy a bit of space around your tent and a decent nights sleep!

Would ideally like to be there before 8am Wednesday. Unfortunately for next year I've been booked on a coach leaving London at 6am Thursday, not ideal but after how difficult Sunday was I'm just grateful I've got a ticket. Getting my friends with standard tickets to go set us up somewhere good as early as possible Wednesday.

Car parks Tues night, early Wed morn is no fun at all. Done it last 2 years and was really knackered all Wed and both times have fell asleep by headliner slot Sat night, when it all caught up! So I'd say it's not really worth the bother if there's space to camp elsewhere, but then I'm getting a bit long in the tooth so...........

First two years I went I was in the queue outside around 6am which wasn't too bad but in 2011 I got in pretty quickly as I came on the coach whilst my friends who drove got soaking wet in queues having driven.

This year I arrived a about 1pm on Wednesday afternoon and walked straight into the site, much preferred that as I've never been too bothered about were we camp.

arrived mid afternoon on wednesday this year. No traffic and first time with a caravan. Rolled into Campervan West and will happily do the same again next year. Had to detour to Bristol airport to pick up a couple of friends. Won't do that again but coming off motorway at Burnham On Sea for supplies at Tesco really worked out well. I think I will repeat that also

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
