Trying for a ticket in October for 2015: Yes, no or undecided?

I was considering giving up for smaller festivals for a year or two at some points on the Friday/Saturday when all the mud/amount of crowds/rudness of crowds /distance to everywhere all seemed far to much for me to handle but I spent a couple of fantastic hours in the glade until Jack White and spent most of Sunday away from the main stage areas until Kasabian. There was a nice crowd around me during Kasabian of all bands! Spent sometime wondering about taking in the sites of the festival at night and then when I got back to my tent there was a campfire going so sat around that for an hour or so...

and I've decided I am going back for sure but I think I am going make sure I camp on the Park side of the railway track, so if its muddy it doesn't feel to far to get to all the places of the festival that are really enjoyable! Just take some time out of where all the crowds are and it should go back to being amazing.

The thing is that my mates all turned up sooner than I thought they would and I felt obliged to talk to them rather than mingle / spend more time with efesters. If I do go to Glastonbury next year I'm going to make certain that I devote the Wednesday night to the efests meet.

..... but felt this year like I was constantly fighting against the flow of predominantly rude and aggressive traffic. I was mainly aiming for non-headlining stages, but just swept along or just so frustrated trying to fight my way through.

Missed so many bands I wanted to see. Maybe I just need to head up to the Greenfields or Park first thing in the morning so I'm nearer stages I want to see through the day but then I'd miss the Acoustic tent, Williams Green etc

Yes we will be trying. The last four Glastos we've done I've either been heavily pregnant or with a small child in tow, so hopefully we will be doing it kid free next year, which will be awesome. :-)

For the acoustic tent at least, going via Park/Shangri la/Cabaret is a much faster way than going via the Pyramid and Other stages. There's a reason they make that the alternative route, zero people-traffic.

I love the smaller fests, always do Bearded Theory now, but I went back to Glastonbury this year and to be honest, I wasnt sure if I would fall back in love with it, but I did, I totally did. I only went to Pyramid once (Dolly Parton - wish I hadn't!) and didn't even get to Other, JP & Silver Hayes - so this year was I was mainly around Avalon / Theatre/ greenfields etc, it was perfect, had so much fun, a lot of the bands I wanted to see were on Avalon, so that worked out well. My pal said to me why bother with Glastonbury if you don't go to the main stages / see the main acts etc, may as well stick to the smaller fests, my answer was - its Glastonbury! there's so much more than big stages etc,and yes the smaller fests offer all this, but Glastonbury has a lure about it, its a giant fun playground and I bloody love it.

Anyway, I'll be trying again, if I don't succeed though, I wont be too gutted (like I would've years ago) I'll just find more smaller fests to entertain me...

Definitely. I missed out in October and the stress until the re sale was constant. Then i missed in the re sale by about 20 seconds. then spent the whole glasto weekend in a bad mood haha.

Yes the efestivals meet was another highlight of the festival actually, thought the new bar was a great place!

There is 2 of us going, and i know you have to register, but is it better for both of us to buy our own individual tickets separately, or have one person book both?

Also, is it necessary to be "lucky" when they go on sale, i mean do they sell out in rapid fashipn? Ir is there preferences given to certain applicants?

Don't bother its a terrible terrible festival

Its better that you both try but book both tickets at the same time, as you might not get a 2nd chance!!! (Also keep an eye on this forum, sometimes if a backdoor does appear or SEE do something wrong, you will hear about it hear first )

And yes its necessary to get very lucky, everyone has a near enough equal chance of getting through and getting their tickets. Obviously if you are part of a big group you have more "chances" but its a bit like the lottery. Get online before they go on sale etc. and be prepared to wait it out for an hour or so to get through.

Yes, that friend was awarded Man of the Match at this years festival. It was his first time alone (ie. not with his wife and kids) at the festival for years and years. He demolished the festival. Dare I say it - he even owned the festival this year. i believe he only got a handful of hours sleep throughout the entire event.

I'll always try. Whether i get through or not is another matter but we've got a decent bunch of people in our group and our ticket day strategy is such that I've not failed to get a ticket since 2004. Even though I'm getting married in October and I need to buy a new 6 man tent for next year, I just can't see myself not wanting to go until kids get in the way and even then I'll be leaning on the grand-parents for child-care!

Lol..I've made a conscious decision not to go to any of these again even if a good line up. Only Glastonbury has the festival pulling power
