If this is a done deal with Glasto, they're going to have to formally and publicly announce the cancellation of the Sunday Paris gig pretty soon, aren't they? I'm surprised they haven't done it already. All this rumour of management confirming by email to somebody is a pretty unsatisfactory way of doing business, let alone treating their fans. Personally I hope it's not The Who because I've no interest in seeing them, but if it is, I'd expect them to make some kind of official announcement soon.

Just seen this too

Mike Starcke just posted on Facebook that he got an email from Who management saying Amsterdam is being moved from July 1st to July 2nd.

The mod on that forum has now posted to say he hasn't. The management is yet to make a statement.

Interesting in this thread they seemed to be discussing the Glastonbury show the day before it broke in the Sun http://bulletin.thewho.com/showthread.php?2152-Will-the-who-put-on-anymore-dates-in-uk-Europe

Yes, I posted this here a couple of pages back. Update is that someone spoke to this Mike bloke and he hasn't heard anything from management at all.

Neil, if the cat appears to be out of the bag regarding the 3rd headliner and sub, do you think that there will be an early announcement now or will it still be 1st June?

If it is early, would you expect the full line up or just confirmation of The Who and NGHFB?

Cheers

You spend a fair amount of time moaning about the posters on here. Got anything worthwhile to contribute or are you just as 'snobby' and 'pathetic' as those you deride?

No think uve got wrong person, see my previous posts. I'm not talking about everyone, I like reading most people's comments. Also a lot of moaners tho, what will be will be, get on with it. But that's from the perspective of this being a predicting thread which I realise is not beccessarily in the title. A prime example is many people seem to be more bothered about votes, losers.

Ps I do realise I'm a loser for being on this thread

So you think it will still be June 1st and the who fans will be in limbo till then

I've little reason to think the announcement date I was told - "June", not June 1st - will be changed. I was told it would be June because of "other shows" and any "other shows" that effect the Glasto announcement are likely to be shows in the UK rather than shows in other countries.

What The Who do about informing ticket holders to shows they might be re-arranging is probably completely separate to that.

what if soemoen emails asking if they shoud cancel hotels/flights and no response? surely they could sue?

Unless the Paris gig is still happening but now it's just Chris Martin doing a solo Who tribute act. All makes sense now!

I don't expect it any earlier. The delay in announcing will be about trying to sell tickets for the Hyde Park show - and set as a condition by BST - and nothing about overseas shows.

The only possibility of BST allowing an announcement earlier would be if they felt the info was so widely known that it was pointless to keep denying it - but nothing like that happened with Metallica last year, or with Stereophonics in 2000, or even with examples around other festivals over the last 15 years. So I don't expect it early.

i wonder what amount of money Glastonbury threw at them to make this come to fruition - as legendary of a festival as the big G is, i just don't see them rearranging shows and causing all this shit for the regular pay package. does Glastonbury really mean so much to The Who that they'd cause all this ruckus? very strange if this proves to be true

Which is why Neil's suggestion they wanted their last UK gig to be Glasto and the band approached them seems more likely to me.

if this is true then why would they book a gig over that day? surely they'd leave it free, even if they didn't receive 'yes' from the Eavi until incredibly late? this Paris gig must've been booked ages ago - they can't have been that eager to do it if they're booking other gigs over the weekend

We're obviously approached later. Doubt they'd expect to headline Glasto again

True enough! God knows. Maybe Glasto was always in their plans but the festival simply didn't want them as they were chasing someone else, that fell through and Glasto came back to them with their tales between their legs. God knows! Haha

Maybe they 'planned' to do GF on the Saturday and KW scuppered that.
