I like the look of those but then I like the strange and different.

I'm going old school this year,it arrived today, bought it from Ebay £35 second hand, its old stock that had been in a warehouse for 40 years,I'm going to put it up tonight.

I probably bought a bag of dust. :)

Vango Alpha 400 - that was at Latitude in the crew site - looks fine when I took the shots but that night there was a Wild Storm and all these Pop up tents - blew away - one dumping all the stuff and then flew over a high tree - there was gear spread all over the woods - the next day it was fine again - my Vango stayed where I pitched it.

We got the Vango Beta 450 a couple of years ago and started taking it to festivals after the Litchfield 4 man tent after many years service got a hole in the top of the Nylon sheet. I love the porch space in the Beta, it's pretty decent. At Download last year, due to many downpours it was handy to fit everyone in for a chat and drinks. I would love a canvas tent to stop that dying feeling in the mornings, might try the space blanket and peg trick - apparently that worked quite well for someone we knew last year.. That's the only downside to my beloved Vango Beta 450!

How heavy are they to carry, for it is a thing of great beauty!!

(Last time there was a tent porn thread, I ended up ordering a new 3 man pop up for my 16 year old and his mate to use at this years festival)

Don't get me wrong, they're beastly things and heavy (I'm at work at the moment so can't get hold of the actual weight, I'm sure it's on the label).

We have had to purchase a very good trolley but these days, tent excluded, I travel quite light to Festivals, I now only take a bottle of Whiskey and buy the majority of my Food and Booze from the Bars. My lass carries her gear in a ruck sack and it works out absolutely fine. It doesn't half make a difference though, looking at some of the tents on here, after suffering through 97.98,05 and 07 in similar sized tents it makes me shudder. A sign of getting old I suppose ha!

I've got a Gelert Cabana, which everyone keeps telling me is ugly but I quite like the oddness of it :) (Mine is grey though, none of those terrible clashing colours and prints)

We've got the same, I think it looks good!

A cracking tent anyway, loads of room and very easy to put up, we took it to Bearded Theory a few weeks ago and tne weather was appaling, the tent stood up to it wonderfully.

Here was my old 8 man beast that I used for the last 3 Glastos. After taking it to Bestival it got flooded bad and was a complete wreck by the end. Had to chuck it :( We used to be able to fit about 15 people in the middle bit for predrinks before heading to South East Corner. Missing it loads :( Back to individual tents this year, not the same!15985_10153042931380224_907113260_n.jpg

I have been given a Vango Hydra 200 after my trusted Vango died a death at Leeds last year (had lasted 7 years of festivals and camping trips). The Hydra is a great tent...the only issue I have is there is a large porch but no ground sheet in the porch...previous tent had one.

It is worth while buying a tarp or something to make a porch floor or should I just do without?

I wouldn't bother - I rarely use the supplied ones preferring either a travel rug or nothing at all.
