Clashes :(

I know that the final ordering of the lineup is all but confirmed, but what with acts confirming themselves for days / general common sense (and the clashfinder (http:///s/g2014/?) which, whilst miles away from being finished, i find looks quite accurate higher up the bill at least) it's time for the inevitable 'i have to miss this amazing act for this other amazing act' thread, and this year for me personally looks worse than ever (even this early on). i'm only gonna use the top 5 acts each day as it seems to get a bit muddled after that (and i'm well aware that a lot of this could be totally wrong so no need to get too upset yet):

Friday:

Paolo Nutnini vs Jurassic 5 vs Four Tet vs Chvrches/Wild Beasts

Interpol vs tUnE-yArDs vs Danny Brown

Parquet Courts vs Chance The Rapper

Blondie vs The 2 Bears vs Polica

Saturday:

Metallica vs Bryan Ferry vs Mogwai

Jack White vs Pixies vs Goldfrapp vs Lykke Li

Lana Del Rey vs Jagwar Ma

De La Soul vs The Horrors vs Courtney Barnett

Sunday:

Massive Attack vs Disclosure vs James Blake

Manic Street Preachers vs Bonobo vs St Vincent vs Wild Beasts/Chvrches

Dolly Parton vs Phosphorescent

oh god it hurts just writing some of those down :'(

Can't really complain - none of my top five or so must sees clash with each other and I have no probs with headliners either, which is a win really.

St. Vincent won't clash with Manics, the park finishes early on the sunday, and I think she's third on it anyway. Nothing will ruin my perfect sunday night xD

Edit: Shit, just noticed that could mean she's clashing with Lily or Dolly. Looks like I'm seeing St. Vincent on my own then, not the only act I'm seeing alone

I think of the five stages, I could happily be at 4 of them for the sub slot on the Friday. CHVRCHES can do one. I've marked elbow as my go to, but only because arcade fire follow who are a must. Jurassic 5 and four tet may be tempting when I get the lay of the land and figure out if I can bez between stages. And I'm happy to say I like Paulo nutini, sunny side up is a belter, so may end up there, though unlikely

Lykke Li less so (she might be on another day) but the others seem pretty certain that they're gonna happen. absolute nightmare

edit: in fact, just looked at Lykke Li's tour dates and she has herself down for the 27th/Friday so that's wrong (although can just be added to be my already clusterfucked Friday sub slot)

Personally don't think am going to take too much notice yet. Definitely not all in date and place order.

Obvious one is Dolly. If take the poster literally she is subbing Arcade Fire and we all know she is nailed on Sunday Legends slot.

Also Dexys. Poster suggests they are Friday headline for Acoustic. But from their website they are playing the Roundhouse in London on the Friday and specifically playing Glastonbury on the Saturday

http://www.dexysonline.com/Shows.html

So don't worry yet, but also don't think bands aren't clashing, they may yet!

We don't have stage times yet do we? If last year is anything to go by you couldn't tell who was genuinely clashing right up until 2 weeks before the festival, with the exception of the two main stage headliners. Even west holts had some shifting around of the headliners IIRC

I really hope the clashfinder is wrong about drenge vs jimi goodwin :( the black keys and the manics could be another bad one, and there's a possibility the interpol could clash slightly with elbow. These are going to be some sad coin flips :(

The amount of walking, to end up in a crap spot on the saturday is annoying (if clashfinder is correct)

de la soul - Johnny Greenwood - Robert Plant - Jack White - Pixies - Metalica

Especially when you think Id up up in a crap spot for the pixies and metallica, missing the end of Jack and the start of metallica. Do I stay around for all of Jack White?

Clashes are shit, but a great problem to have rather than: Not getting a ticket so my clash is, watch it on tv or a repeat of Animals say the funniest things on ITV2.

Manics v Black Keys... Bugger

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
    • Glad I’ve still got it booked off for my 50th
