We are forgetting one important fact, Pilton has it's own special weather climate.

Been to my mother in laws in Pyle and it's sunny 2 miles down the road in Shepton mallet it's raining.

Maybe we just need some device that blows away clouds from over the festival site!

Sorry to go all Nal on you, but it looks a bit worse than 2008 to me. Not as bad as 2011 though and certainly a long way from the unholy trinity of 97/98/07

Maybe 2004?

My concern is it's getting shitter with every forecast! I expect them to plumpen the rain amounts over the next few days, then add Thursday as having definite rain too!

The problem is that just 10mm can really bugger the site, it was getting very muddy and slippery after the rain on Thursday last year (no way near as much mud as '05 and '07 but enough to make it unpleasant). It took a majority of a day of warm sunshine before it was pretty much all dried up, but if we don't get the warm sunshine and keep getting showers, it will stay muddy.

Not to a huge extent but enough to stop you sitting down anywhere and to make walking slow and tiring, plus all the hassle with muddy shoes and clothes around the tent.

Just being realistic rather than blindly positive as I enjoy the festival SO much more when it's not muddy!

Does anyone have any info on how many mm the storm of '05 dumped on the site? Or the total rainfall in '07?

My positives are

Friday is still 'chance of rain' on my app, highs of 22, and sun should be there all day to keep things dry. 0.22inch is forecast but if anything it will be light

Saturday looks ok to me.. In fact we may not get any rain at all. 23 degrees and scattered clouds. Settle for that !

Sunday less positive, but not disaster. I won't go into that forecast yet... Let's keep believing

I'm fine with crap weather on Sunday- it's almost home time by then

Yeah, it seems like we may be in for something a bit 2004ish. Forgot about that year.

It was a strangely un memorable year- didn't enjoy it so much, not sure why

I thought it was pretty miserable. My feet rotted.

Nal, any room left on your ark?

Maybe not that bad then. It was a long time ago, I don't really remember it that well. Apart from the Black Eyed Peas. They were brilliant!

Yeah Google suggests this famous photo was taken in 2004

Noooooo thank you

They were indeed. But the weather was dire. Relentless rain interspersed with drizzle. And the mud was everywhere.

The 4mm keep the dust down rain on saturday night has vanished

Ladies and gentlemen we have a forecast winner

For fecks sake, I can't take it anymore.

I think I'm leaving weather forecasts alone for a bit until Tuesday. This constant 'it's gonna be great', 'it's gonna be shite', 'it's gonna be great' etc. can't be good for my mental health.

2004 wasn't that bad. to be fair, it was wet at times but once you experienced 2007 it was nothing. I remember watching McCartney on the Saturday night and it wasn't wet and don't recall it being too bad on the friday as I ambled away from a dire Oasis set. Certainly spent time lying on the grass at the stone circle. It may not have been that warm but it was ok

I would take 2004 weather right now

I think that just about sums it up, the headline and article completely contradict each other.

I'll be back Tuesday - but I'm expecting the worst at the moment.

One thing I noted was the % chance of rain is quite low... even in the days forecasted for rain :D

Yeah things seem pretty changeable right now. In reality it's gonna be looking at things on a daily basis at Glasto, I'm packing for all eventualities. If precipitation is minimal bonus. It's more about the attitude in which you approach things, and I intend to have a bloody good festival!

It pished down during Macca. Only stopped towards the end.

Misery, I tell you. Clarty, clumpy, back-aching misery. With foot rot on top.

We can't be having that again. Someone do something! And don't forget to pass it to the left.
