Janelle Monae

I sadly missed her in 2011 and what with her success and the brilliant " electric lady" album i wondered if she's due to actually headline the West Holts this time? Surely due? She'd do a good job if play backs of her performance in 2011 is anything to go by. If no EWF then she'd be great!

Shes playing other festivals this summer so the is a strong chance of this happening, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Glastonbury asked her back. Her 2011 set is widely regarded as one of the best in recent history.

I will be there, 2011 show was incredible... the crowd were electric the whole set.

Cor, if they booked Erykah Badu I'd be there in a heartbeat. She'd be an outstanding booking.

Also hoping for Janelle Monae. I really enjoyed Electric Lady - not as good as her debut, but some cracking tracks in there. I've never seen her live either, and she looks like somebody you have to be there in person to fully experience.

If her new album had been debut, or released by anybody else, it would have been amazing. Sadly she set the bar ridiculously high with her first album and didn't quite hit it. It's still great though.

I think she could translate well into a big setting. I would love to see her gain some success and see her in a massive setting where everyone knew what was going on. I was second row of that infamous 2011 gig and it was breathtaking, one of the best things I've ever seen live. Then I thought it would be the last chance to see her before she started headlining arenas... I could just imagine her subbing on the pyramid being magical.

If they do book her I think it could be headling West Holts. I wouldn't want to see her play a smallish crowd on a big stage during the day though. She is a hard one to work out how big she is and how big a crowd she would draw. If she's up against Eagles or Kasabian I will die happy. If its Arcade Fire, I am coming for you Eavis.

That second album is such a let down, was really looking forward to it, but it's not a patch on the Archandroid. Still listen to that a lot. One of the best releases of recent years, extraordinarily good album

gave The Electric Lady a listen earlier to see if my mind had changed. the first half of the album is really good. not as good as The ArchAndroid, but good. the second half really lets it down though. from like track 10 onwards i just got bored (first album had a similar problem but much much later on in the album - maybe even just the last two songs, and that may be more me being impatient with the long album rather than them being bad songs)

would still definitely see her at Glastonbury though. not great album aside, i'm sure she still nails it live

    • Solid list...  but i must ask?  are you excluding Lime Garden & Tomora as you didn't like them or is it that you havent listened to them?
    • It was Brooklyn last year, and I seem to remember a Guinness tent
    • That leaker off Instagram was saying earlier this year that Nickelback are doing a tour with Broco and Wargasm, but no evidence as yet
    • Gojira are unoficially confirmed by the organisation at Hellfest since last December already.   Slayer was supposed to be this year as a Mainstage 2 headliner at the place of Volbeat for a thrash day but negotiations fell off. Very likely to be there next year.    MCR I didn't know about but it fits well with Hellfest's desire to keep one day as more punk/rock orientated.    Europe are a confirmed headliner for Sweden Rock 2027. They will not headline HF but we may seem them on the bill. I am very curious who will be the legacy bands next year at HF. There was some backlash after 2025 and a bit of a return to heavier metal on the bill in 2026 - e.g. Gatekeeper on the main stage. The only considerable legacy acts I see coming (if they are in Europe) and haven't been at HF for a while are Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Slash, FFDP (if you count them as legacy), ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I really hope they manage to pull sth big for the 20th anniversary like AC/DC.
