As regards Paul's best vocal is really is just a matter of what connects with you most. "Amazed" is the one that just highlights that high register of his at its finest to me.

I adore "She's a Woman" and "Bathroom Window" too.

But "Rinse the Raindrops" and "Nothing Too Much Just out of Sight" have really spectacular vocal turns aswell.

i was listening to Please Mr Postman yesterday, which is one of John's finest performances imo, and you can hear Paul singing his heart out on the backing vocals...fantastic stuff

I remember wathcing a programme once, and there was an American soul singer commenting on some Beatles cover versions of US soul songs (like Please Mr Postman), and she was saying it was good but it didn't have the 'soul' of the originals.

which is plainly bollocks

I didn't see Macca at Glastonbury but went to his Anfield gig got the 08 Capital of Culture and could not believe how good it was. "Something" was one of the most beautiful things I've heard.

Nah - in most cases I'd take the originals over The Beatles' covers - Please Mr Postman being a particular case in point.

See also Chains, You've Really Got A Hold On Me, etc.

The Beatles version of Twist & Shout is definitely one of - if not their very best - cover.

But it's not as if there's much wrong with The Isley Brothers version either.

I'll happily take both of them.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
    • Lifelong Carlisle United supporter here.🤦‍♂️ Good luck for the coming Season and see you in October!
