I think it is difficult and take a lot of skill, but to actually create a (good) song out of nothing trumps it, in my opinion.

Coming in late in the thread, can't see what people like about Mumfords but love Laura M, go figure? Can't see the hype, if only small around National, and that band that seems to play every year but my tongue can't be arsed to say its name ( let alone type it ) , they even grew their hair long to look hip, their lead singer is as dull as dishwater, go on you know who!

Manages to have got away with the patchiest, weak songed, contrived whilst been cliched shit for too long. Every middle-aged volvo driving token 'alternative' band to pretend to like (but only playing one song)

He's also a very cunning, bullying businessman - selling himself to cocacola to write a song for an advert for example.
