The Foos Not a Rumour?

I'm confused. Before the ticket sale the Foos were up there as one of the bookies favourites but now seem to be left off of the eFest rumours entirely. Kasbian, Oasis & Bowie were also favourites at the time and they're still on the list. I know rumour or no rumour, nothing's really ever a given, but not even being on the list is a tad gutting for myself, seeing as it's one of the main reasons I managed to get a green card for next year from the Mrs as she understands that Dave's my only man crush if I were to be that way inclined. They are also fecking amazing live.

Anyhoo... Can anyone shed any light on this? Or as i'm new to the forum & 2013 being my first ever Glasto, is it common for the headliners to be announced last minute?

Thanks in advance.

Most of the 'bookies favourites' are a load of rubbish, not much substance to any of the rumours. Here is the main source of info (or has been for me anyway!)

Headliners are a tricky one, in the past they've sometimes been announced in the winter separate from the rest of the line-up. Other times they've been announced with the whole line-up in the Spring.

There will almost definitely be no Oasis. Noel has confirmed his second album should be out late next year/early 2015. He'll be busy working on that. They wouldn't get Oasis back together this soon & not for just a few gigs - unless the money was (more than Glasto would offer?) very good.

Foo Fighters, who knows? but I can't see it happening, more a Reading/Leeds band imo (like RHCP, Greenday etc)

As has been mentioned the acts bookies have down may or may not be based on anything in particular (other than trying to encourage people to place bets).

The Foos are a 'festival favourite' band but I can't see any reason why they'd being doing European festivals next year, they won't be on any kind of promotional tour. I know that doesn't mean they won't (especially with a band like them) but when there isn't even that to point to there's no reason to think they're a possibility until some other information come out (and them being on a bookies list isn't reliable information).

the difference with the foos to those others is that the others have been reported as possibly playing in the mainstream media, while (as far as I'm aware) the foos haven't.

(having just written that, scott's gone searching and found the foos, and others too, which will be added in a mo).

Bookies don't work their lists with any relationship to reality, they work them on how much they think they might be able to make - and they'll make more on the most popular bands than they will the less popular - which is why, I think, the likes of Oasis and other dead bands keep cropping up.
