And I was just about to type the same - thanks Neil and e-festivals and mods etc

Feel like the luckiest fairy around today having secured a golden ticket yesterday through a friend - awesome feeling, and now have to dig in and get the others we need in April

Thanks again

And to anyone thinking about it Gold is the way to go .... ad free always :-)

thanks .... and thanks to the handful of people who have signed up for the ad-free option in the last few days.

(the ad-free option gives you all of efestivals free of 3rd party ads. You can sign up via the "subscriptions" tab towards the top of the page).

How many people tried to access the site yesterday compared to previous years?

It seemed very smooth. Good stuff.

yesterday set a new record, about 200 people more than the previous record.

And just like with See's servers, the efests servers maxed out (I couldn't even get on to tweak the settings to give it a higher capacity), so while it might have stayed smooth for you that wasn't the case for everyone.

Now, where have I heard something like that before? Perhaps you Taikonaut were doing something special to access here. :P:lol:

For those of us that are here everyday, are you better off us keeping the ads, or paying for the gold membership?

TBH, that's a question I cannot answer.

I chose the price for the subscription based on it being the more regular users who would be interested in it, but it was done using a bunch of loose assumptions.

I think I asked him but there was't a definitive answer as there's no way of knowing how many clicks people will make. He seems quite happy when people sign up so I guess he'd rather have the money in the bank rather than trust the regulars to click ads every day.

I don't have a preference either way, as I don't know which one is better financially.

I started offering the ad-free subscription because someone asked for it and it was possible for me to do easily enough on the forums.

Since I first did that I've redesigned how the main part of the site works (at the back end of things) and so been able to expand the ad-free offering to the main pages too - and I did that without changing the price for the ad-free subscription.

So anyway, sign up for ad-free or don't sign up - I don't mind either way, unless you're using an ad-blocker!

(If you are using an ad-blocker here then I'll ban you if I find out, and at some point soon-ish you won't get access to here because I'll be putting an ad-blocker-blocker in place.

Right I'm in, I also hadn't even noticed the subscription tab, until it was mentioned.

Neil and I have had our heated moments in the opast, usually due to my obtuseness, but this is definitely the best place to find out information and advice about live music and festivals that I've ever found.

£18.00 pa is a bargain.

Cheers Neil

Jeff

    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
