I think he'd make an excellent NME headliner. I'd have put him in Limp's slot, put on a sub for Libs that better follows on from The Cribs-Maccs-Jamie T, and fucked of Limp. Or put them 5th on Metallica day if we really have to

I think Kendrick is in a perfect slot, playing after the release, of an overall, well received album- apparently made $1million in a matter of hours. Also, Last time the libs played it was a very indie mainstage, which was broke up nicely with some hip hop- in the shape of Dizzeeeeee, that worked splendidly. And Kendirck is bigger now, than Dizzeeeeee was then.

Fair point actually. Personal preferences are probably getting the better of me here. The lack of anything to really interest me between Jamie and the Libs is kinda putting me off getting a day ticket a bit. But given the slots Dizzee/Macklemore/Eminem have all had Kendrick is probably in the right place.

Might not be a single, maybe a bit like when Biffy released Stingin' Belle like 5 months before they released Opposites, because I wasn't expecting Frank's new album until the third quarter of the year to be fair.

I think it's right that he's subbing but he's got a really vast selection of deep, meaningful tracks that'll get talked over bar a couple of hits. While Dizzee had a fucking good period, I don't think that him in 2010 can be compared. Kendrick should be subbing Radiohead or something.

no matter how deep or meaningful the lyrics are, they're both Hip Hop acts that are playing/ played on mainstage, surrounded by indie acts- so they're bound to be compared. Safe to say, arcade Fire day in 2010, and mainstage on Libs day this year, are very similar. Libs in 2010, overall, were a great sub, but subbing Arcade Fire? Bit of an odd one. The two days,practically, have the same structure.

But I do agree with you, there is a lot more lyrical depth to Kendrick.

Who are people thinking Tyler will clash with on Main?

Also anyone into early KOL/Strokes stuff should check out The Districts (on NME Leeds Sat/Reading Fri). Not saying they're at that level yet but definitely worth seeing based on their recently released debut album imo. Also meant to be very good live.

Probably the gap between Kendrick and Libertines, and the first 20 minutes or so of Libertines. Only way I can see him not clashing with Kendrick really.

Depending on how the exact timings fall I'm hoping to be able to go Cancer Bats -> Tyler / Kendrick -> Refused, although that may be a little optimistic.

If by any miracle I am able to see Jamie T/Tyler/Kendrick and Libs I'll be very happy. Bit annoying that the majority of my favourite acts are all on that one day.

I like them, especially "4th and Roebling". Will defo give them a look at Latitude and Leeds, but each to their own.
