I just saw on Twitter that Bastille are confirmed as England/Wales exclusive but are headlining boardmasters.....eh.

Also, Royal blood confirmed as exclusive as well. Take that with a pinch of salt.

Yeah, there's a link to Monday's press release earlier in the thread. Royal Blood are 'UK Summer festival exclsuives'.

Coldplay at Glastonbury, Mumfords, Bastille, Catfish at Reading (and not balanced by any good bookings), and now Flaming Lips playing my hometown while I'm gonna be at Reading. Worst week of festival news ever. Only saving grace will be if I can convince my dad to go to Green Man with me, cos that would be ace. Otherwise, wall-to-wall shite :(

Why are you going to Reading if you don't like the lineup?

Because my friend has never been to a festival before, never seen Metallica before despite being a massive fan, and I said I'd go with him. Plus I do really want to see Refused.

Annoyingly Flaming Lips and Metallica are both Saturday, or I'd genuinely have been tempted to sack off Reading for the evening and go to Victorious for an hour or two.

EDIT: I realise in my previous post it might've seemed like I was saying I don't like anything that's been announced for Reading. I meant this specific announcement was bad for me, because the only decent stuff in it was Royal Blood and Wolf Alice, both of which were a. really bloody obvious and b. bands I've seen multiple times recently already. The first announcement was great, I was happy to say yes and get a ticket with my mate on the back of that. Just to clear that up :).

Apparently Bastille and Royal Blood were confirmed as third on the radio yesterday, but Jamie T isn't confirmed.

And yeah. They've supposedly been offered an Other Stage heaine slot at Glastonbury which is as big a slot as subbing R&L.

Ah right that's not that bad then, we can hope that Jamie T is 4th/NME rather than 3rd.

I wouldn't read into that too much TBH, as Glastonbury often have acts in weird places (like how they wanted Metallica to headline the other stage last year). And at the end of the day Alt-J are still playing Academies (the bigger ones granted) at the end of the day, their newest album hasn't exactly set the world alight, and before the ridiculousness of last year when was the last time we had an act sub that hadn't had an arena tour behind them?

    • I mean she's never going to admit it, but of course she would do a deal...same as Labour would with lib-dems/greens if meant getting into government.
    • They probably do make more from the festival. But take a look at an aerial photo from any year - there's always a few fields that would be viable for festival related use yet are left empty. I guess they just don't want to deal with the associated hassle.
