The closer we get to the announcements the more I'm liking the way this year's shaping up. I know it's been said a thousand times already but a strong NME headliner against Mumford (personally would love it to be Knife Party) would be a cracking weekend, + the thought of The Vaccines / Alt-J / FOB as subs is a hell of a lot more appealing than Jake Bugg / Macklemore.

Cheers for the info Neil. Metallica and Libertines is a good start, really. Better than I'd expected. One I'd definitely see and one I'd happily see depending on clashes.

On the Linkin Park subject, they definitely aren't any more likely than people act like they are on here. I thought it would be them for a long time, but after the Metallica announcement I became less sure (still thinking it could be them). I did continue to push them a lot as a possibility so that anything else would be a nice surprise. Although Mumford are probably the only band who wouldn't have been a nice surprise in comparison.

It does seem more of a prospect than before but Mumfords are still just 'R' on the listings.

that's more a historical consequence and there being no new info about them specifically.

But other stuff that happens around other bands is causing others to be less likely or not at all, and so is increasing the chances that Mumfords is right - and it does come from a definitely decent* source, too.

(* decent, tho not infallible. Any wrongness is not because he's badly connected but because he's sort-of too well connected).

Neil any chance of NGHFB playing or V and T yet again?

The Libertines, The Prodigy, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Courteeners, Disclosure, Kasabian, Noel Gallagher's HFB, Oliver Heldens, Slaves, Knife Party are all acts I'd love to see at R/L '15.

Out of these, who do you think are likely to be there?

Prodigy almost certainly won't be cause they're headlining IOW.

Courteeners probably just won't play after last year as it'd be the same set.

Same with Disclosure.

Kasabian and Noel will probably be at V instead (especially Noel).

No idea about Oliver Heldens.

Nice one mate

I doubted Kasabian as soon as Metallica were announced, as I doubt R/L would have two bands come down from Glasto'.

And I thought Noel could be a possibility as he subbed Stone Roses at T and V in 2012, so I thought he might do R/L this year as he's got a new album out and he's not played R/L solo yet and he's not played (with Oasis) since 2000 so I thought he could play this year.

Absolutely buzzin' for Libertines though.

Yeah Noel could play, and he'd definitely be suited to subbing The Libertines. Just reckon he's more likely for V tbh. They seem to have all the 90s Britpoppy kinda acts.

I really hope he does play R&L this year, subbing Libertines would be brilliant imo. I just hope he doesn't play V and T this year again. But just thinking, although it would be a crap booking if he did play both of those as he did in 2012. He also played IOW, so what's to stop him from playing 3 in the UK again? (Correct me if i'm wrong)

Yeah he could play three, but R&L just don't share acts with V because they're so close together (except the odd tiny act).

Glasto and V for Noel this year I reckon. Thinking V might give a headliner slot this time but not so sure Glasto will do that

Bullet For My Valentine have announced that their new album is out this year and they'll be touring the UK and worldwide this year... Potential Metallica sub? This will be their fifth album so far and radio 1 seem to always hype them up when they release something new. Plus if FOB don't sub, I couldn't really see a problem with them subbing
