Was gonna say that if all those bands were available they'd probably just book Libs to headline and not book Linkin Park, but I guess if Libs were adamant they wanted to play elsewhere then that could happen.

Anyway, Neil's info (the main reason we're predicting them, I assume) said that they're headlining. Can we all stop picking the bits of info we'd like to be correct and disregarding the rest?

The only reason linkin are even talked about is because someone suggested on here. We've talked about it so much that we've created the rumour.

The fact the rumour came from these boards and not outside sources shows how far we're caught up in ourselves

Wtf are you even talking about when you say this? No one has said they're rumoured. All we've done is predict them because they fit the clues given and are around at the time. Other than Metallica, Mumford and Libs every other headliner we've spoken about has come from this board, because we've thought of acts who could possibly play.

Last year, until Lucky told us the headliners, we were all guessing QOTSA. Guess what? That "rumour" was created on this board!

It's the same every year until Neil/Lucky gives us info.

When we're guessing for next year, we'll be creating these exact same rumours you speak of.

the reason linkin are talked about is because a few months ago eventim.de accidentally scheduled a linkin park concert on august 14th 2015. some hours later they removed the event from their website but a lot of people had already seen it. they'll probably tour in europe in aug 2015, so the fuckin rumor started. but they'll probably stay in germany i think.. rock n heim and some other festival near germany like sziget, pukkelpop.....

Remember if neil had information, maybe even a slightest rumour that it was Linkin Park he'd put them on the rumour page.

Remember the linkin park rumour started here... we didn't get it from anywhere else.

I guess you could say we possibly jumped the gun too early, and took something Melvin said as truth when it was probably complete bollocks.

going back on what I said, if they do co-headliners again I can see Jack White/Libertines, Metallica, Mumford & Sons

but I don't think they'l do it two years in a row, and I think the Libs will outright headline and Reading will look weak in comparison to Glasto when they are announced as a sub

Only if you're an idiot who doesn't understand festival bookings.

Aye they could easily not play but Matt's post was just nonsensical. They're no different to any other "rumour" we have on here.

No what I meant by that is no ones actually come forward that linkin are playing, we just discussed their probability because they fitted a quote by melvin. In the time since that article they are deemed as one of the most likely yet thats only because they were suggested and discussed.

Ultimately what i'm saying is no one has come forward with info that they are likely, nothing has been put out by the press either. They've only been discussed on here, nowhere else...

Just like every headline band other than Libs and Mumford. Therefore, seeing as they fit the clues and are around at the time, they can surely be predicted in a "most likely" scenario...?

You mean it wouldn't look weak? How so?

I am disappointed in you.

Because the whole concept of a festival looking weak in comparison to another on the basis of just one booking is retarded, because they're different festivals aimed at different people and with different restrictions and because strength and weakness are based on personal opinion.

Also no doubt R&L would be considered weak compared to Glasto no matter who is announced, you know because of all the wonderful extra stuff that makes it so great, so the comment is pointless.

I didn't mean the whole festival - just that particular booking. The crowds aren't massively different at R+L and Glastonbury and a headliner at Reading taking a lesser slot for a smaller fee does make R+L booking them to headline look weak doesn't it? Edited by dentalplan

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
