How good/realistic does my guess at this years lineup seem?

Ed Sheeran could easily sub Reading or V. Both a good few months after Wembley & would attract the casual festival goer that mostly attend either.

He's the new Mumford type act.

Edit: Just a thought... Mumford subbed by Ed Sheeran. Pretty strong for the teenage demo.

They don't book acts like Ed Sheeran in such prominent slots now and the festival still sells out. Just because R+L attracts a less alternative crowd nowadays doesn't mean it needs to pander.

Am i missing something in the difference between shit pop act Macklemore & Lewis and shit pop act Ed Sheeran? Actually there isn't really much difference apart from size between him and Jake Bugg. Infact I'd say FATM is about as "alternative" as him to and she subbed...

Not defending the ginger tossbag and he likely does have wider appeal to a crowd that R+L doesn't tend to attract ...but he certaintly appeals to the crowd the above acts get.

R&L is becoming more of a pop/dance festival no doubt. But I think Ed Sheeran is out of question for a number of reasons, for a start either V or T will give him a headline slot and the exclusivity that comes with it this year.

Maybe he is. I dunno - I should have never brought genres into it but he's marketed far differently to any of those acts and I think if he was one R+L wanted to book again they would have done it after he played 2011; he seems to have followed a similar path to Keane and Coldplay (and Mumfords ) and stuff by playing once while they were much lesser known then never returning.

R&L is becoming more of a pop/dance festival no doubt. But I think Ed Sheeran is out of question for a number of reasons, for a start either V or T will give him a headline slot and the exclusivity that comes with it this year.

Ed Sheeran's tour finishes with three Wembley Stadium shows, so no festival would nor could touch him next year. After that I'd imagine he's even more off the table than he was before as he'll be headlining festivals and R+L would never be one of those.

Reading and Leeds has much less depth than it used to but I wouldn't say it's becoming a pop/dance festival at all. There are three day dance and hip hop stages but right across the world festivals are introducing more and more dance music and hip hop has developed hugely in recent years. That's all I can see to back up that claim.
