I haven't listened to White Lies since their set at reading last year. That's how disappointing they were

Out of the 11 times I've seen them, that was the worst but I think that was because the crowd weren't that great - all everyone seemed to want to do around me was mosh to the extreme.

Wouldn't be surprised, they're slowly working their way towards that slot.

Did you go to Truck this year Tourette? I know you've mentioned you've been before. They really outshone The Cribs this weekend. Stunning light show as well as great crowd interaction and because of this next time they play R&L, I can't see them playing anywhere other than top NME.

White Lies would be a superb NME headliner with a new album out. Smashed it at Truck last night.

Good. They were excellent at Glastonbury too.

I don't see it. They seem to be on the way back down.

I think Ritual lost them fans but they've gained a fair few from Big TV I'd say.

I think Big TV lost them a few too. They're playing smaller venues than the Ritual tour (and not really selling them out), they plummeted down the Other Stage bill and, well, headlining Truck is the opposite direction from where they were. It'd be nice to see them headline the NME though.

But, in London venue terms, on Ritual they played two nights at Shepherd's Bush and on Big TV they did two at the Roundhouse, which is bigger isn't it? Wembley Arena on the Ritual tour doesn't really count because they had to curtain off a third of the arena due to poor sales to the point that the band lost money from the gig.

So it's still a step down then. Plus, the NME stage for neither site is in London. :P

I think they could've gotten away with headlining NME last year if the bookers anticipated more from Big TV but not now.

I put kanye west, prodigy and radiohead

..

...

:')

:P

I guess The Prodigy have done a good job of keeping themselves scarce if people are actually hoping they'll play rather than resigning to it.

    • Motionless in White have randomly been announced for Nova Rock 2027. I’d say that puts them pretty much nailed on for Download, either third down main or headlining second.
