Lineup 2015

Out of the 11 times I've seen them, that was the worst but I think that was because the crowd weren't that great - all everyone seemed to want to do around me was mosh to the extreme.

Well they were rubbish at Leeds because they played badly.

They were good at Glastonbury though, as dental said, so hopefully R&L was just a one off.

So it's still a step down then. Plus, the NME stage for neither site is in London. :P

I think they could've gotten away with headlining NME last year if the bookers anticipated more from Big TV but not now.

I wouldn't count that as a step down tbh. And I was only using London as an example of the kind of venues they played on each tour :P I still stand by my feeling that they'll headline the NME next time around though ;)

Playing two nights at the Roundhouse after two nights at Brixton (!) on the first album tour and Wembley Arena on the second one isn't a step down? Even then I don't imagine anyone including the Roundhouse on their proper tour is in danger of headlining NME.

Have you forgotten about Blink 182?

It'd be worse than that.

Ah yeah, forgot about Brixton on the debut tour. Damn. They were just so good last night! It truly was a headline performance in all aspects!

The fact that you posted it in the 2015 thread suggested overwise to me :P

Where else would you like me to have put it? Made an unnecessary White Lies thread? In the 2014 lineup thread when they're not playing this year? :P

The fact that White Lies headlined Truck is enough to show that they won't be getting big slots from R&L any time soon. Truck is definitely one of those festivals that you only play on your way up and then on your way down; the acts on the upper echelons of main stage are only there because they can't get bookings elsewhere

I always thought White Lies were gonna become a major festival headliner, until Big TV came out. Now it just isn't gonna happen unless they have a radical change.

Thing is, I find the Big TV songs come across much better live than the ones they're playing from Ritual now.

They're bigger, have new material and didn't headline four years ago. Plus they're not shite.

 They're most definitely shite. They headlined five years ago (and were worse than Blink was purported to be) and being big doesn't make them any good a booking. No doubt Blink are a shite booking and a worse band but at least they haven't played a festival since or even a show in UK for two years - two years where KOL have done two festivals and endless arena tours and outdoor shows. Also I would've thought Blink had more material, although that point wasn't relevant in the first place.

The only worse booking that could possibly be made than Blink 182 this year would be Blink 182 next year.

They will have an album between this year's festival and next year's.

Not saying it's gonna happen, so don't shout at me, but I think we may be looking at a Blink/Black Keys co-headline :')))
