Football 2013-2014

They also loaned out a keeper who may be better than their current one. I haven't been at all impressed with Chelsea this season, for all the praise "the special one" gets, they have looked no better than under Benitez and at least he could get Mata to perform. It may be my wishful (they will probably win the league now) thinking, but I think there is a possibility they may be in for a difficult season.

What the fuck?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25418135

I get the argument behind it, but surely this would just lead to mass inflation of wages, endless tapping up, and ultimately, best support the clubs with large status who could pay the highest wages, and the agents that will do the donkey work for them.

Surely it can't happen?

Ah that would be fun, it's totally against why transfers and player registration was brought in, in the first place. To stop the bigger clubs picking off talent that smaller clubs developed without being compensated.

They can have their notice period if they agree to a salary cap that's affordable for all clubs.

Agree with that, fuck just about surviving in the premier league being the aim for the club and in reality what chance does the current first team his putting out have against Man Utd on Saturday anyway?!

The most exciting things I've had as a fan have been the play off finals, and one FA cup final (and the couple of European nights we had after that) not the seasons in which we have done okish in the premier league. (I may have been young but I even remember having excitement over the Intertoto cup!).

Im not sure why you would sack Clarke and bring in Mackay, it would seem a bit of a sideways step to me. I think his history at Norwich means he could get that job if it became available. I suspect he will have to start again in the championship. He is a nice guy but getting Cardiff in to the championship was hardly a miracle as they had been knocking on the door for quite a while. He is a nice guy but his achievements don't really stand out above any other manager who gets promoted from the championship. Theres quite a good chance Cardiff would have gone down if he had stayed, so maybe losing his job will be best for his reputation

If you compare the situation with Adkins (who in my opinion had a better CV than Mackay) while both were harsh, you got the impression the Southampton chairman had a plan. You get the feeling that the next Cardiff manager is going to be a really bizarre choice and the season could implode. Makes you wonder if premiership football is worse selling a clubs soul for.

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
