Has anyone said Florence and the Machine....?

Not sure of she is busy elsewhere but.....been guesting with the Stones so could do an early appearance on there then be whisked over to the other end of the site. Massive act regardless of people's tastes/preferences on here and loves the festival. Would be big old news in the media afterwards plus she doesn't have anything to promote so a traditional headline set on any stage wouldn't be appropriate. Also would follow Cat Power nicely.

Don't shoot me down in flames, not saying that's what I want but just that it may make sense.

All these claims of Radiohead, Stone Roses etc are all wishful thinking and are only coming up because everyone loves them on these forums and not because of any thought process behind it.

Cue someone saying she is out the country and bang goes my theory.

I think we should be looking at someone down these lines if we want to be realistic

yeah AFP seem like the obvious choice / most likely to be fair. big enough to seem worthy of the slot, not too big that it'd cause mayhem, Thom Yorke has hinted that he'll be there, tour starts right after Glastonbury. i'd probably go if it was them

to be fair, the moment there's a secret slot / time gap, AFP are gonna be what people speculate as a lot of things add up to them being there in some form (along with the thread somebody just posted about hearing that Thom will be there)

I don't have a Sunday headliner so this sounds like good news. Goldfrapp would be awesome, less fussed about My Ruddy Valentine as saw them at Porto Ruddy Primavera last week and they were 'alright' (more of an 'experience' than a gig and as I've experienced it once recently wouldn't be that bothered to see them again). They were comfortably the worst (and leat attended) headliner after Blur and Nick Cave (who were both v good).

i really doubt it'd be Travis. they're far too low on everybody's radars these days for many people to give a fuck. imagine standing, waiting for a band to walk on, and then on comes Travis. it'll be somebody more substantial - maybe even a Pyramid headliner sized band (i know they've said there won't be any secret acts of that size anymore, but i think that because they'll be up against other headliners, the safety risk is a lot less)

I know it's near impossible but i'd love it to be a complete surprise to everyone. If it does happen and they're on the same time as a headliner, i can't see a huge crowd turning up when they don't know who it is.

I think whoever has done the line-up on the Park for Sunday has just listed the bands in order, without putting in the gap for a secret slot. I think there will be a surprise band during the day, but not as headliner. That's my guess.

There's mistakes on the clashfinder list anyway. Billy Bragg can't be in two places at once. So I'm not taking it as gospel just yet.

I really hope this is true as none of the current headliners float my boat although would have gone with Cat Power. My heart and my head both say Beck, it makes perfect sense with his tour itinerary and would be a great way to finish the festival for me

I wouldn't worry about it too much - Radiohead and Pulp secret sets in 2011 were both leaked well in advance on the day on the interwebs. I don't see why this year would be any different.

(However, if the secret headliner is Goldfrapp, that's the end of my festival nicely planned right there - Cat Power and Goldfrapp would do very nicely thank you)

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
