I still have fingers crossed Mumford and Sons are still able to play. Saw them at 2011 Glastonbury and they were amazing.

I think Stornoway have a double bassist, maybe he would step. I wish him all the best though, it's a very unfortunate thing to happen on the eve of what is possibly their biggest gig.

The guy can definitely be replaced musically, it's whether they want to play on without him which is the issue. Assuming he won't recover, it looks like they will play on without him, otherwise they'd have cancelled all of the dates.

Not a massive fan of Mumford and Sons but I hope the guy gets better soon! Can't be nice to miss out on arguably the biggest gig of the band's career.

They could easily get a techie or roadie to stand in. Yeah they like to rotate roles and swap instruments, it just means that for one gig they wouldn't be able to do it as much.

Mumford 'we're really sorry about the situation, I know it's short notice but can we postpone for this year, were and a band and we can't have him missing out'...

Followed by a 'yes, I understand, no problem' or a 'well it's not that simple, we can't do it, it's this year or never at all',

the latter seeing Mumford play!

And incidentally, it's not a different situation really, it's quite tragic really, but I don't like Mumford!

I doubt they'll play without him, it'll be massive for him as well as them and I'm sure Eavis will offer them next year instead. Luckily he's proverbially minted so should have the best care available to him to get better.

It's completely different. U2 was a once in a lifetime situation, its very unlikely they will ever play a UK festival again, so it was vital they had them confirm for the next time. If Mumford don't play this year, and then they never play a UK festival ever again, I'll personally strip naked in the Pyramid crowd and shave every hair on my body.

If these chaps play on without their bandmember who has just had life-saving surgery they're the lowest of the low. Theyve a long career ahead of them and can easily re-schedule.

On the other hand it could be a minor snip and the fella is back in the mix after a week.

There is no way Ted will be playing. Let's get that out of the way for starters.

Whether the band play without him is a different matter but knowing they are very tight knit, have been together since school, and this is the biggest gig of their lives makes that unlikely.

And although not surprised, to see some of you celebrating this young man's illness simply because it means they may not be playing a gig you wouldn't have watched anyway is shameful.

Before anything else, let's just wish him a speedy recovery eh?
