Hipsters...

Never really thought much of the term's definition, really, but if it's easier to use than simply saying "w*nker" when a kid in Wayfarer-type glasses with no lenses in them screams "we want Friendly Fires!" repeatedly whilst Spiritualized are playing, it'll do for me. Never really fathomed what it means to be a hipster though.

...That wouldn't necessarily mean that topman clothes....you know like as in the "topman" ..the billy big bollocks, the chieftain of a London street gang. (Also see: Next guy).

East Village, Stratford next init, it will be all retro and ironic to live where the Olympics were soon enough...plus with a name like East Village!!!!

Do hipsters exclusively inhabit London then? :P I wonder what makes a northern hipster? Are the Northerners still into "Donk" ?

Tyler the creator and Earl sweatshirt are performing this year, so no doubt thats where to go or avoid.. depending on your preference. I get called an artfag a lot when I paint, so maybe il go with the hipsters :)

Thing is, if a 'hipster' is determined by their dress sense - ie. being cool/following a certain sense of fashion - isn't everybody who has ever bought a new item of clothing from a shop a 'hipster'? I'd love to meet the guy who turns around and says, "yeah I make my own clothes for purely utilitarian purposes - in winter, I slay my own goats and use their skins to make my coats, and as you can see, I write poetry too..."

Being a neo-Luddite is so cool? Like, literally, like so cool?

The implication being what though - that you didn't spend enough effort or money on you appearance?

Mrs B insisted that middle-aged men do shop in Top Man so, a year or so ago, I ventured in to a branch - I think I was the only person in there who had passed through puberty. And do they make the sales assistants cum on each other to get that scruffy, sticky-up hair?

    • I think it happened a week ago. Btw, Ela Minus looks like a great addition for the opening free day now. Anyone been to this venue? Is there like a closed place or they just put an open air stage somewhere in the park?
    • I see the weekend tickets have sold out. When did that happen? I recall seeing that Friday day tickets had all gone but was surprised to see today that weekend ones had too.
    • I thought some time back that I could see Get Down Services getting a slot in Woodsies
    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
