I'm not going to get too upset if it rained at some point between now and the festival starting and then was dry while we were there! That would be better than last year and most other years.

Most of the grass isn't walked or driven on before then so it wouldn't be that bad.

I'm fairly happy with the Jackone forecast this evening as it feels like optimism is getting high for the actual festival time - a bit of rain before the festival sounds okay to me, am sure it would soon dry up if its this weekend or Monday say before the hoardes start. Last went in 2009 and even after the mega thunderstorm on the Thurs night it was still dry enough for trainers on the Sat and Sunday even maybe on the Fri evening. I don't think it gets and stays as muddy as people would think ... rollercoastering upwards at the mo weather-wise!

The likelihood of having no rain for 7 days in June in the UK is rather small. Therefore some before the festival, but not much/ no rain during the festival is very good news if you ask me.

And yes, it is very true that jackone, having never been to the festival is rather over cautious about the muds durability.

Oh yes and rain it did! I didn't get there until the Thursday morning in 2007 and I don't think I saw the sun all weekend. The rain was relentless and my back hurt by the Sunday as I had barely sat down due to all the mud. However, I've been to every Glastonbury since so it couldn't have been that bad. To be honest it is rare to ever go five days without rain in the West Country. 2010 was probably more of an exception!

The site can take a lot of to and fro with the rain. 04 it went mud to dry and back again and again, evaporation and transpiration do wonders

It's the saturated ground we have to fear, and it's not been that sort of weather this year.

We have members who are very local, they'd know if we were in danger of an inch of rain ruining things.

    • Very quiet in here at the moment.....again.   I hate this time as other festivals start and we see who Sziget should've booked 🤣   The Cure knocking it out of the park once again at Primavera showed that they have fans of all ages and, even if it's felt they don't represent the direction Sziget is going in, they would've been a huge draw.   Ditto The XX, who I've never been a massive fan of tbh, but put me in my place at Primavera with a cracking set.

    • Yeah, I feel like people are really overlooking just how fantastic Simple Minds are. ABC have a classic 80s new wave album behind them as well.   That being said, yeah it's not worth travelling for. But it's a lineup I would be happy with if it were local to me
    • On the Wet Leg crowd - the opening day always has the worst crowd of the festival. A lot of locals show up purely because it's a cheap evening, often with not much interest in the acts performing, so, while the talking is an issue throughout the festival (and increasingly at gigs/fests everywhere) it's particularly rough on the Wednesday every year. I'll only bother next year if I really like the act playing.  The wristband is basically a souvenir these days, which I like, as I keep them. Also I guess for the festival it's kind of cheap advertising as people walk around the city with them on.
