I like them wap is a great album but even though there not the last major band on Smashing Pumpkins will be the last big band I see at Glastonbury 2013 , btw how are Phoenix headlining Cochella according to Wikipedia they have had one charting album on the billboard 200 which reached number 37 and a hit single in 2009.

Coachella has this year taken an 'anti-headliner' approach to booking acts. thus they have had some European bands that hardly anybody in America has heard of playing to next to nobody.

it does look that way, yes. i can't honestly believe that they wanted the Stone Roses to be playing to about 300 people (ok, i don't know how many people, but all the reviews said it was sparse).

Can't say I blame the crowd for ditching The Stone Roses when Tegan & Sara and Earl Sweatshirt were on at the same time. Obviously the Americans aren't as cloyingly nostalgic as us Brits.

I thought the Phoenix set was great and I loved the stripped back version of Countdown they played. I probably will go see them on the Sunday.

The R Kelly thing was strange...but...kind of worked...It was a half decent touch I guess

Looked a great set to me I was debating it, not alot else on I'd go see instead anyway but yeah after watching that , I think I'll be in the JPT Wasn't sure how they'd go down, as I was thinking they still seemed a bit small to headline but maybe its the impression you get off them over here taking an effect! Crowd looked like they loved it to!

Yeah, the appearance of the (alleged) child abuser and author of that great lyric 'the midget faints again' R Kelly wouldn't add a great deal to my enjoyment of a Phoenix set tbh.

tbh i'm sure even to an American crowd where they're a lot bigger, Phoenix seemed like a pretty weak / small headliner at Coachella so they needed a few unexpected wacky gimmicks to boost their show. this was a rather brilliant one. it's got us talking about it, at least. i'm sure if he hadn't made an appearance the conversation about their performance would've ended with 'yeah was good'

was surprised by how Wolfgang-heavy their set was. the entire album! wonder if this'll change when they release Bankrupt! or if they realise that Wolfgang is what almost everybody in the crowd will want (Bankrupt! isn't nearly as good imo)
