thought it was pretty nailed on / assumed that they were subbing Portishead? i'd say Foals are bigger than TDCC. TDCC are big with Radio One listeners and the like but Foals are... well... actually good, have a massive fan base, new album got to 2, have played brilliant sets at the festival in the past. they've earned their sub spot. TDCC could arguably sub as well but third doesn't seem outrageous for them

Just going to point out its Foals i believe one of the reasons they chose Foals was so they wouldn't be called "the....",I'm glad we are all fans though.

Smashing Pumpkins subbing still baffles me. i mean, i know they're not as big as they once were but... it's the Smashing Pumpkins! mad to think how some people were saying they should be considered as Pyramid headliners before the announcement

I know it's wrong but I'd love it if Pumpkins dropped to third for selfish reasons.

Yeah they certainly seem bigger then a lot of recent Other Stage headliners and definately a rarer/more interesting booking then having bands who are going to be knocking around for a while....then again maybe I'm a bit blinded by my affection for them?

Also as much as the XX bore me fair play for giving a new band a chance at headlining a stage.

I'm assuming there's still plenty of tweaks still to be made to that clashfinder. We tend to leave trying to print it until pretty close to the time Doesn't even seem printable at all at the moment!

Example is probably bigger than TDCC - plus him into Chase & Status makes an awful lot of sense. although i imagine a lot of Radio One listeners love TDCC, Example and Chase & Status and that crowd won't shift much (apart from people wanting to see the Stones to say they were there etc)

The suggestion that Example is the biggest of the subbing acts on the Other Stage makes me question humanity - absolutely god awful act and along with C&S makes the Other Stage on Saturday one of the least inviting places on the entire site.

Is he really that big? I mean I know he has old records and had a fairly big tour but he can't be any bigger than Foals can he? Terrible music and by all accounts a terrible human being.

until Smashing Pumpkins were rumoured on here i had no idea that they were 1 - still going, and 2 - still popular

i also have no idea if their popularity on these pages is any reflection on their popularity generally, but the surprise on here that they are 'only' 2nd on the Other is countered by my own surprise that they are so high up!

I went to see the Pumpkins at the o2 a few years ago and it was far from a sell out but I know that when they played Brixton recently they sold that out quite quickly. I think that they still get a certain amount of status but that is based entirely on their solid back catalogue and I can't imagine many casual music fans are overly bothered by their inclusion.

I will certainly be there to see them though and as long as they get a better crowd than the Kaiser Chiefs I will be fairly happy - it still baffles me that people go and watch Kaiser Chiefs, utter utter drivel.

i think they probably will as well tbh. both are a lot more in people's radars at the moment and will have a lot more casual fans whereas Pumpkins' crowd will have a lot more dedicated fans / people waiting for The xx. i doubt all the Pumpkins love on this forum is representative of the general Glastonbury crowd

I'm gonna need a tardis. For someone not used to a festival of this ridiculous size, this is head breaking already. I'm not used to having to make decisions between flipping epic bands like this, no matter where I go I'm gonna wanna be somewhere else.

My method (you can tell me if I'm wrong or not) is to choose bands that I think it's going to get more difficult to see as they progress in their career!

For example, the XX and mumfords (call me a square- someone will probably reply to this saying I am), but I like them both, and I am 100% picking mumfords. The xx are big, but they are still in the stage of their career where if you want to see them, you can plain and simple. After headlining glastonbury Mumford are going to be like Coldplay, massive tours which sell out really quick.
