I apologise if I've caused anger with my frequent posting, I just believe that my information could actually help the direction of all these mad rumours about it coming out on April 1st or much later. I will stand by my information until I'm either proven wrong or right. Even if I'm wrong, the lineup isn't going to be far away anyway so you won't have long to moan to me about it! :')

Announcing on a Good Friday would be a really stupid move. It would make much more sense to either do it tonight to hit the Guardian/news, etc tomorrow, or if that doesn't happen, leave it until Tuesday at the earliest when people are back online/bored at work.

In fact the only reason to do it over the weekend would be if the line-up's total sh1t as that would be a classic time to use the old 'burying bad news' tactic!

Wouldn't announcing it in a mildly low-key and unexpected fashion be typical Glastonbury?

Surely if they wanted all the media coverage people are suggesting then they'd announce it via the same channels as the likes of R&L and Latitude... on the radio.

Here is some info to pour over. I got bored so decided to compile the data that answers the endless questions of when have we heard what in the past. The immediate conclusions are that we are well overdue for the headliners which are typically announced in February or early March and that the full line-up is normally out after mid April. Interestingly for the last two years it has been within 3 days of ticket resale but before or after differs.

My speculation for this year is now that the announcement if we even get one in the next week will be the headliners only and judging by the relative lateness they may be accompanied by a selection of other artists or there may be a another announcement shortly after.

Let the over analysis commence!

Sounds like the perfect reason to give added incentive (lineup release) to buy the paper on that day then.

not if the Grauniad give Glasto the dreadful coverage they normally give the line-up announcement. ;)

I'm only sat here now - 15 years on - because the Guardian were so shit and have continued to be shit with their Glasto coverage. It was their atrocious official Glasto '98 website which caused me to think "I can do better than that".
