Or maybe he thought the Chiefs were a decent warm up act for them? :P. Not trying say they are pushing any boundaries or have great musical output but they do get a crowd nicely warmed up and into a bit of a sing song.

because the british music scene is currently dominated by acts that went to private school and it interesting to examine why that might be.

"Who gives a shit" "This stuff happens these days" shows your apathy.

Not everyone is so happy to bend over and be fucked by the establishment.

I personally think that Florence and the Machine is quite hard done by on here. I actually enjoyed her first album and have been to see her twice. 1st album is quite considerably better than the 2nd but still do not think she deserves the criticism she gets.

Don't shoot me down but it is my opinion

Constantly saying such and such came from a private school background is hardly an in-depth analysis or examination of the state of the music industry though is it?

Is it worrying that certain avenues are closed off to certain people? Yes.

Does it make it impossible for people without this background to.make it? No.

Is it a legitimate slight against a band? In my eyes, not really.

Yes, it is a legitimate slight against the band when the music industry favours those they don't have to invest a great deal in in order to get a return. Contacts and money is everything. It's much easier for a person with rich and generous parents to "practice" by being support acts for a year or two. It's much easier for them to be invited to "important" events (I'm not suggesting Glasto is one of them). It's much easier for them to build a reputation. And it is reputation that allows one to play at significant events such as Glastonbury.

Surely that is a slight against and flaw within the music industry rather than a slight against the musician?

I don't see how taking advantage of a presented opportunity can be held against an act or be used to create resentment towards them.

One thing I love about this forum is the almost-universal hatred aimed towards her. She's abysmal. I remember watching the coverage when I got home one year and the BBC were treating her like the messiah, and I was actually concerned I was the only person who could see her for what she was: shit

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
