Little underwhelmed

Normally I would be bouncing off the walls at all the rumours but this year am feeling a little underwhelmed by the rumours to date

On one hand that's good as instead of planning who to see I shall wander and see what happens, but on the other hand I am slightly concerned I have gone off the boil with festivals generally

I think I need to give myself a good talking to :-)

For me it's not being underwhelmed by the possibilities compared to what could have been, it's more that there's pretty much no-one left that i need to see! I think this may be where the OP is at too. Not complaining that Glastonbury isn't booking amazing acts, more that there's no-one left to book!

Going to festivals regularly does wipe out a lot of must sees in quite a short space of time. There's no-one who I'm actually thinking "Wouldn't it be amazing if they managed to book.....?"

I'm quite happy that there appears to be the possibilty of some acts I love and could see again, combined with some up & coming acts that I'd be interested to see.

I think this is getting old. Either that, or I am still in that place where nothing can follow Stevie Wonder. In fact - there was a run of headliners that did this for me - Jay Z for being so dynamic, then Blur for being so emotional, then Stevie for just being the warmest and happiest gig ever. I think with regard to headliners I've pretty much peaked.

I will still have an amazing time though because there will still be loads of music I love, as well as loads of other stuff too.I quite like the prospect of there not being too much I absolutely have to be at.

Woah! Really? it's too early guys to be complaining about the lack of announcements, give it until after April and then let's see. There are only rumered Pyramid headliners at the moment, no Other headliners or JP and Park. There are what 50 stages ? I love to visit here when i have lax periods at work but i'm not getting too worked up about the lack of " major" acts. As a ( cough ) 51 yo i still try to keep up with what's new and often find there are a lot of new bands that interest me that i'll go to see. If nothing turns you on later go and wander.

CHILL people :)

Can't help feeling, from looking at other festival line-ups so far as well, that this may not be a vintage year for any festival. More than happy to be proved wrong though. But please don't reply to this with "but Glastonbury is about more than the line-up" because that's just boring.

The whole "Glasto is about more than the line-up", slightly sanctimonious viewpoint does my head in on here. I've been going for years, I don't need anyone to tell me why I should like one of my favourite places in the world. Fact of the matter is, if it rains a lot and the line-up is poor, the weekend suffers a bit. I'll still go again and again probably, but people can and should be allowed to criticise if they feel like it.

Apologies, as I didn't make myself clear. I was wondering why the OP thought that the statement "but Glastonbury is about more than the line-up" was a boring statement. I understand that the musical line up is important to many but without the other activities there then Glastonbury would be like any other simply music festival. Glastonbury is a performing arts festival and as a result is a much better place offering a richer experience. What's boring about that?
