His name is Axl, if you can't get that right I have little to no faith that you know anything about the situation what so ever :P

Axl & Izzy were the main two writers for the majority of the output so yes, Axl was one of the driving forces & ultimately what made them successful, without him they'd have been just another generic hair metal/hard rock 80's cheese fest. (The combination of all the members ultimately led to their success but it was Axl as a front man that stood out from the crowd)

Oh & for what it's worth, Chinese Democracy is the second best album to be released under the Guns n' Roses name, in my humble opinion.

the case with most G n R songs is that the rift from Slash came first and then Axl would then write lyrics to suit.

Axl is one of the greatest frontmen of all time but is a massive helmet.

with regards to Slash he might not be the best but is there a guitarist better than him at coming up with solo rifts?

Guns & Roses were, and are, the fucking enemy. Everything I hate about music. Unredeemable shite. There was a fucking rift back then in my town, which side are you on? The mullet haired twats down the rock pub with their oh so amusing 'rape' G&R t-shirts, who sneered at Glastonbury for being full of fucking hippies and would give the crusty/indie/alternative kids a kicking given half the chance after a skinful of lager on a Friday night.

The rehabilitation of G&R over the last few years is one of the most depressing things to happen to music. You know when people talk about Thatcher, and and say to youngsters who dodn't understand how evil she was, 'You weren't fucking there, you didn't see how fucking shite she was, the damage she did', that's how I feel about Guns and bastard Roses.
