I think you may have missed the main point of the article. Wilko has cancelled his shows because he's been advised that there may, after all, be a chance that an operation will save him. Up until recently he has been facing certain death, but following a period of relative good health (he should have been dead my now, as he puts it) he was reexamined and the cancer is now thought to be operable - albeit with a high risk procedure.

I would have loved to have seen him at Glastonbury, but its wondrous news that the old fella might yet pull through, completely against the run of play. I shall raise a glass to him come June in his absence, hoping he is in bed recuperating.

Gutted as I am that it sounds like we will probably miss him, he has been such a fantastic inspiration and this is the best of reasons to cancel gigs by the sound of it,. I can't wait to hear him tell us all about it afterwards in his own inimitable fashion.

Actually in one way I would be glad to miss him because I have a horrible history of seeing legends shortly before they pass on. (James Brown, Lonnie Donegan, Ian Durie, Amy Winehouse, several of the Buena Vista guys etc)

Ah well, if this means we might get a chance to see him *next* year, and maybe a year after that too, for the sake of missing him this time, then I certainly don't mind.

I was really looking forward to it this year though - his show at Koko last year with Norman and Dylan Howe was fantastic and he was so full of energy! He can take any place down.

Best of luck Wilks!

My dad made me promise I'd go see him (I was secretly planning on going anyway) in exchange for a donation towards my ticket cost. He's a massive Dr.Feelgood and Wilko fan! He's got one of his signature Telecasters on the wall at home.

Gutted as I was really looking forward to seeing him!
