What the fuck happened to this topic....... it was about Wilco and the fact that he'd be a welcome addition to any Glastonbury stage given his musical heritage but as usual it's become a hijacked topic for someones rant.

He's not making it a big issue so why hijack a great discussion about his music and British guitar based pub rock era.

Even if people did discuss issues of cancer what's wrong with that? Wilko has chosen to make it an issue by talking openly about his attitude and his plans for a farewell tour. I doubt there is anyone who hasn't been touched by the issues surrounding cancer and may well know people who are suffering from or who have died from cancer.

It's one of those illnesses where you sometimes have time to consider how and where you'd like to go out. One of my oldest friends, who battled cancer for three years planned her funeral and departure to the finest detail.

Falkirk Bairn I'm sorry to hear your wife had breast cancer, it isn't clear how things are now but I dearly hope everything is ok now.

It is such an emotive issue and people need to allow people to have views, those views need to be constructive and respectful but all views are welcome.

I was lucky enough to see Wilko in London on Wednesday and am mindful that as I am typing this he is on stage this very moment playing what I believe will be his last London show. Wednesday was a fantastic and fitting occasion and I am really glad I was able to go.

I can speak with some experience as I have had bowel cancer.

As with WaveyDavey, I hope things are working out for you. No offence was meant, far from it.

I was simply admiring Wilko's positive approach to life as well as his music.

Ive just seen that WIlko has been announced to play at Cornbury at the start of July, in the announcement he said he is feeling ok at the moment and has the urge to play so is doing "some festivals".

That would be an absolute treat if he was at Glastonbury.

I'll be amazed if Eavis doesn't try to make this happen, seems a natural fit though I imagine a lot will depend on how he's feeling on the day. Certainly one to mark down as a potential 'last minute addition / secret gig'

I doubt thats the reason as he's announced cornbury which is July..

and interestingly mentions festival(s).. There's nothing bigger in the UK so I would

hope they are looking for a space on the right sized stage rather than holding this one back as a 'special guest' - that is indeed if he's playing

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
