Radiohead may evolve but the music that got them where they are today by the people that bought the music back then should still be played.

As for the Foo Fighters, there is a band who know what a crowd want and know how to please them,Radiohead as a festival headliner should be banned they just send most people to sleep.

Under what law? People who bought the old material "and got them where they are" are the ones who were going to the gigs ages ago. If they don't like their material now and aren't supporting the band in the present time then why the fuck should radiohead cater to them now?

Radiohead are playing the music for the people who are currently buying their records and keeping them at the top.

their gigs always have songs from OK Computer and the bends anyway, I dont know what this guy is in tears about.

Problem is, as was mentioned earlier, fans of bands like the foo fighters always get the same set list, plus a couple of new ones. They are well out of their comfort zone when confronted with a band who can play 2 vastly different sets in 2 consecutive nights.

It's another reason why a band like radiohead is ace and a band like foo fighters is gash

i think it really says a lot about a band when you can go to see several shows of the same tour, even consecutive shows over a few nights, and see a different setlist every night - a different show opener, songs that weren't played at previous shows etc. that's what you get with Radiohead

if you did that with Foo Fighters (i don't hate Foo Fighters - they're just a classic example of a standard as f*ck band) you'd get the same songs every single night, in the same order, with the same gimmicks surrounding them

right. I've seen the head around 8 times now and from their last 7 albums (80 tracks or so) I can only think of a couple of songs of theirs that I haven't seen live.

Current tour has been about 10 new songs (album tracks and extras), 4 or 5 from In Rainbows, 4 or 5 from HTTT, Amnesiac and KidA, and 4 or 5 from OK and The Bends. Given that OK was released 16 years ago and The Bends released 19 years ago, and they're released 5 hugely successful albums in the mean time, the moaning really isn't justified.

What floorfiller said. Your argument is completely flawed. Any fan who has bought every record obviously doesn't think a setlist made up of newer songs is self-indulgent and up their own arses, as they must like their newer stuff.

Radiohead sell out world tours in minutes. I don't think they need lessons on setlists.

i swear when playing live Dave Grohl shouts 'ALLRIGGHHTTT' during every single song. that man sure does love to shout

gotta say, i still highly regard their first three albums. but everything after went more and more downhill. new'un had a few good songs as well

Thom Yorke didn't know what to say when asked about Glastonbury so we can all assume they are there as backup when Stones/Fleetwood mac drop out. Hopefully they will play, but why is there all this animosity to Foo fighters and Dave Grohl on this thread? There are much worse things to go at. Only a few weeks ago Mumfords were nailed on and they didn't get half the stick you lot are giving poor old Dave.

Leave it out.

I guess you arent a big radiohead fan? What do you consider to be the "hits" that would please the random festival punter?

Creep

Karma Police

Fake Plastic Trees?

Genuine question here. I see them as an album band, I really am not sure what their biggest hits are considered to be.

Generally speaking, Radiohead tend not to make excellent festival headliners because they're a very introverted band who (quite rightly) tend towards pleasing themselves than their listeners, which is often a surefire way to alienate any casual fans in attendance.

I can't say it bothers me, I enjoy all of their work (bar Pablo Honey, and TKOL which I found to be quite dull).

    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
    • No complaints about the sound. We were like 2nd set of steps facing stage right in like the middle row.
    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
